I had a job that I thought was going to be my 'forever' job, take me to retirement. I thought I would be there for 25 years, I loved what I was doing, I had just been promoted, I loved my customers and what I was doing. Then the leadership started flying the company into the ground, so mid-year I found myself in a different job where I make a lot less money and have to struggle to understand what I am doing. The silver lining has been flexible hours and working from home: I have gained so much health, lost 60 lbs, and ride my bikes almost every day. I am thankful to have a job at all, and especially the time and resources to have turned my health around, which might have never happened without losing the job I was all jazzed about. I hope Phil and any impacted GT staff find fulfilling (and lucrative) gigs soon.

Matty, I remember seeing you with the sea dogs way back when. You had a couple hits that day. I love your videos but it’s also pretty cool knowing I saw you play here in New England. I unfortunately I didn’t see you play with the Sox at Fenway, unless you count TV. It must have been pretty cool to play in that old park. You got to love what many of us dream of. Keep up the good work buddy!

When I was growing up riding BMX in the 90's The top BMX Brands seemed to be in this order Haro, GT, Dyno(Owned by GT at the time), Mongoose.....You are right, end of an era.

Forgot about Dyno…Diamondback was fairly popular too. But it was definitely GT and Haro at the top. I remember the split between having a rotor or a gyro on your bike so you could spin the handlebars 360. 😂

Sierra (outdoors store owned by TJ Maxx) sometimes has GT and Diamondback bikes for $200 and below......but most of their inventory is 2X drivetrains. Earlier this year, they also had Mongoose fat bikes for $300ish. They also have really good deals on mountain bike shoes and other gear.

Wow, sorry to hear about your baseball career and how it came to such a abrupt ending. TBH Matty I didn't know your history as such, I just know you as "Matty Active" the bloke who loves mt biking over the Atlantic in the Colorado area, and watched you progress overtime. Sometimes 💩 happens for a reason Matty, and im sure you would have preferred the professional sportsman route, and then maybe gotten into the mtb scene, and maybe im wrong. You definitely found a door that was ajar and you opened it up Matty, so stay strong fella, and never forget the past, and always keep one eye definitely on the future. HAPPY CHRISTMAS Matty, to you and your family and friends, and to all those around the world who you have continued to entertain here on YT 🎄❤🇬🇧🤝🇺🇲

There should be no surprise. A lot of brands gambled after the Pandemic settled down. The new Tariffs for Chinese that are likely to hit in 2025, more brands and companies will be forced to close up shop, or transition to a new Business plan. My last "New Bike" purchase was in 2020, and I dont foresee myself buying another new bike ever again. Bike prices got out of hand, and now we have to live with the Correction.. I am seeing the same thing in the Firearm Industry..

I saw this with paintball in the mid-2000s. They grew too big too fast. Started charging assinine prices for everything. 2008 crash killed paintball, and it went back to a fringe passtime sport. The mtb bike industry is doing the same thing, and the post covid economy has started killing the industry off to such a point where it will never recover fully.

Your in luck because Pon owns a few other bike brands so the gt frame style will end up in the other cycle brands.. Gt is a box store bike and comes with cheap components,,, buy the time you threw on cheap aftermarket parts you'll end up with a cheap bike... buy a quality brand and rep the rewards. Better sprokets,,, brakes,,, fork,,, tires,,, rims,,, hubs and frame... I ran cheap bikes years ago,,, ive moved up to the next level and haven't had to up grade anything... 😂 Western Canada Don

if GT disappears but Cannondale doesnt I will be disgusted. GT has 100x the brand power Cannondale ever has. Everyone knows about GT bikes. Whether its Hans Rey, Jamie Bestwick, Dave Voelker, Tom Justice, Tate Roskelley or Trevor Meyer. GT has always had amazing riders, legendary timeless designs and an image that sets them apart. I might not have a GT BMX, but I do still have my aggressor 29 which gets the job done for mild fun trail and gravel times.

I'm just glad I didn't pull the trigger on the Mike's Bikes $799 (56% off) special on the GT Zaskar. It's clearly a fire sale. Instead, I bought a Trek Roscoe 8 yesterday for $1,600 (33% off). But, that bike wont need upgrading and Trek is still in business, for now anyway. The auto industry is up next. Over inventory, over priced, low quality, and people aren't buying anymore. It's going to get ugly...

Someone will probably buy the brand and start putting it on their bikes. I hope it's a good one, but it's a hard line of business where it seems like you need to be either super cheap to sell at Walmart or super expensive where you'll be taken seriously by enthusiasts. The world needs a good quality 1000 dollar-ish bike for the folks who want to ride "seriously" but not make a career out of it.
