These are actually great boots that you have to wear and play in to know. I have been playing soccer since 1988 and have worn everything.
@cnava78092 жыл бұрын
I literally have just received the edge and took them out for a quick sesh and these are my thoughts . I have currently been wearing the numbers up version of the freak+ and at first the midfoot was incredibly tight. So I tried stretching with a wine bottle . I know it sounds weird but it really worked left it for about two days and boom ! The uppers on the edge feel really plasticy , but the panels it has really does give a very distinct feel on the ball . Both shoes are wide up front so no problem there . Since I do have wide feet .The edge does have a really stiff upper compared to the freak + but again it’s about the sensation, and really maybe the play style. Yes boots don’t matter really what position you play and won’t make you better but trying on the boots you would you know what I mean .the freak feels a lot more connected to the foot and ball while the edge does not .the edge also is really tight on the little pointy bone on top of my foot and caused slight discomfort and had to take them off a bit early :( while the freak has the prime knit there on my foot so it’s very comfy now. the edge is a fantastic boot but for me the EDGE is going the FREAK+ . Love the feel and sensation of the ball on the freaks more than edge. The edge isn’t a bad boot but I know it will require more break in time than the freaks. FREAKS WIN

I massively respect Josh and his opinions on boots and don’t get it twisted, I’m an OG follower *however*, one major issue I’ve had with Josh’s reviews is that a lot of the time I can’t help feel that they’re based on presumption and gut feeling. In this case, there is no way he has tested these significantly, past their break-in period for example. I find in hard in 2022 that they’re as bad as he’s making out considering how the design process so heavily involves pros and countless hours of performance testing. I’d like him to somehow prove that’s he’s clocked a fair few hours in the boots and then do the review
@Soccerreviewsforyou2 жыл бұрын
An opinion is an opinion, I get it. I've been doing for a long time, and I don't say things that I don't feel confident about, especially when it comes to negativity in a review of any given product. I don't think my opinion on these boots is unique based on what's out there and who I've talked to, but I'm also in a position as an independent to say whatever I want, be it positive or negative, since I have no ties whatsoever to any of these brands. Anyone is entitled to disagree with me, but I stand by what I said and my testing process. I think these feel bad out of the box, and don't get much better with wear. Super long term testing in the age of textile upper football boots doesn't really mean much, given that they really don't change much with wear, especially with a firm material like these have, reinforced by long strip of rubber that also don't soften up with wear. With the materials and shaping of modern day football boots, break-in is way more about getting used to the feel of the boots on your feet, rather than the boots adjusting to your feet. I test boots to the point where I feel comfortable in giving a confident and accurate opinion, and that is what I've always done. In regards to Adidas and their development of these boots, I can't give any specifics for privacy reasons, but according to multiple inside sources, the Pred Edge was a major rush job with minimal, to no pro input until the production version was already in place. Which explains the sub par result that is the final product. My credibility and reputation is everything to me. I don't give opinions, especially strong opinions, unless I'm confident in what I'm saying. These are certainly wearable football boots, but certainly do not meet the standard that I think anyone should expect from a $275 football boot. Like I said in the video, we need to hold big brands to high standard, and my experience with the Edge has been that they're a big step backwards for multiple reasons. I respect your comment, but I did want to share a few things that I didn't go over in the video.
@Dailojazz2 жыл бұрын

I don’t really agree with this at all man. I bought these yesterday and just played with them for the first time tonight. Great aggressive stud pattern and a nice solid fit around my foot. The grip and control is amazing. Felt locked in and sturdy. That’s what I look for in a boot at least. I understand people want a “barefoot” feel, but the last thing you want to feel is your barefoot getting shredded through tackles and physical play all game. I guess if you like the barefoot feel you must not be playing defense😂 or playing physical. This boot is phenomenal all around.

You can call of the their previous weighting system gimmicky, but at the very least they were significant enough in their impact on the experience of the football boots that you can actually feel that something was differently compared to other boots. Tech that impacts experience based on feel, even if it's dumb or ineffective in terms of improving performance, at least it's doing something. When a technology is seemingly doing nothing that you can feel, especially when it's one of the main features of the boots, now that's dumb! Anyways, I agree with you to an extent, but I also liked most other weighted elements on past Pred models.

I've had the Predator Edge+ for a week and played 2 games now. I've had the Mutator+ and the Freak+ and I prefer the Edge+. It took maybe a game to break in but what I appreciate about them is that they just feel solid and comfortable. For me the fit and lockdown are good. I play all of the midfield spots and tbh I don't really notice them while playing. I don't feel like they negatively affect my touch or the upper folding in unnatural ways.
