We make this a lot over here, and we call this "gul-gule". They are made the exact same way you made it, for flavour, we use sugar and water mixture to give it taste, except we heat it up on stove and call it "sheera". Its crispy, and extremely tasty throughout, even though a bit soggy. Everyone likes to make it differently, though :) Sheera is a bit syrupy and brown in colour, and is extremely simple. Only requires 1 cup of sugar and the same amount of water. Keep it on the stove and regularly stir it to prevent sticking, till it boils. Just drop these in it, and they are basically done :)
