As an American who has fought in the USMC I can say with absolute confidence that the "ideal" of America makes it the greatest country in the world. Problem is those in power have abused it to the point America is anything but the greatest country in the world. There is no reason to have problems with Russia. The current generation of Russians has done us no harm. The Cold War (in which, as in every war, two sides were involved) took place 40+ years ago. Russians are a largely European people with a culture that is over 1,000 years old (Vikings founded the territories of Russia and Ukraine; Kiev is a city of the Vikings). Why do we have friendly relations with them, but not with Russia? Why is Russia the only country we don't give a chance? It's not fair and it's crazy.

On reading your comment my mind did a little digression. What if? What if? ...forty years ago we had that nuclear explosion at Chernobyl. Horror,terror,sheep in Cumbria grazing radioactive grass,were they,who knows. Now,the result of a nuclear disaster like Chernobyl was supposed to be the complete and barren desolation of all life,a sort of WW1 landscape with burnt trees where nothing grows. But the opposite has proved the case. We know that the closed off area is now a thriving forest where all sorts of wildlife is flourishing away from the interference of humans. Actually a number of people have crept back and live on their old homes in the forbidden area. It was a few old people who did it as they missed their old homes so much. I've heard the authorities leave them alone so long as they keep a low profile and don't draw attention. So maybe certain ELITE eyes have noticed all this and feel it changes the odds a lot. Of course if I go into FULL CONSPIRACY MODE,was it a TEST in the first place,like AIDS was the first gene edited Pandemic. (It taught them they had to tame the media).
