I really think DICE needs to go back and look at BF4 and BF3 and look what exactly made these games so fun. The gunplay in these games were excellent, as well as the vehicular gameplay, maps, everything.....To me personally was because to an extent there was a slight arcade like feel to it all, it wasn't too complex and hyper realistic. Just because the technology is there nowadays, and its impressive to represent realistic combat in video games, doesn't mean it equals fun. Sometimes keeping it simpler can be better. TRUTH: Playing BF3 and BF4 makes me hate BF2042 even more. Imagine if BF2042 had the maps/modes/menus of BF3, the mechanics of BF4 and the graphics of BF1. That would have been a fantastic game. Instead, we got stuck with "specialists" that no one asked for and most did not want.

Yeah, there isn't a single map where I actually have fun as infantry. Kill one enemy and you're being shot at from all sides because there's little to no cover. Successfully get away and you're getting obliterated by a helicopter, a tank or some other vehicle.

i've only played bf4 on game pass with all the other 2042 refugees, didnt play when it was new - i feel like the office area of exposure is the only area that sort of taps into the vibe of bf4 maps...hopefully they can continue that trend when the next map releases in actual 2042

One of the things that BF2042 misses, is the "camera shaky-ness" whenever you're walking/sprinting. It feels more immersive this way. Also the fact that, whenever you're sprinting, the characters (and the first person camera) don't look like they're The Flash/Sonic the Hedgehog (which is what I love about BF4).

The next Battlefield should just be a modern setting based on the possible conflicts today, but should take BF1's approach on factions of playing as many countries (UK, Germany, South Korea, Iran, India, etc) and not just the big 3. I'd love to see maps taking place all over the world (Washington DC, Taiwan, Berlin, Tehran). I'd also love to see both 4th gen and 5th gen fighters, and more vehicle diversity in general.

alot of well designed maps for close combat first and just a couple of veichles added per map, wide variaty of guns and gadgets for every playstyle and with the fluidity and high fps from the average pc nowdays IT IS actually the best shooter there is imo

Started playing bf1 for the first time this last week. Just can't get into it. Maybe because I missed all the hype when it released and I don't have anyone to play with. But I started playing bf4 a couple months after release and since then I've played it almost exclusively. And I've almost completely played solo. Not as much in the last few years cause of life taking up my time, but I've put over 2k hours in it in the last 9 years or so. It just feels so much better than bf1 in almost every way. Only things I wish they changed in bf4 was UCAV, knifing, APs blocking JDAMs/TV, ARs/assault class. And of course the various bugs (TV missile bug for example)

Ultrawide gaming is so legit. Rocking the Lenovo Legion ultrawide, myself. Your display is half your setup, and makes ALL the difference in the world. My aspect ratio is even wider than Jack's, here... TOTALLY not compensating for anything. 😅

I play BF4 on an ultrawide but it just seems to magnify the sides instead of showing all the way across. What settings are you using, Jack? My monitor has 1200 vertical pixels, no clue about the horizontal (currently on the road for work).

The Pearl Market map wasn't liked because it isn't really possible to control lanes. There are so many potential paths and hiding places compared to many BF3 maps where you could establish fronts and control those paths, even BF2 seemed to do this better than BF4. It's nice to have some more open or chaotic maps, but nearly all of BF4 maps were like that, and the ones that weren't were typically so much more open as well. It was no surprise that when the BF3/2 maps released for BF4, they were played more than most of BF4 maps.
