This may not be an issue for everyone however, I’ve had my PS5 since launch and recently opened it to increase the storage. I thought whilst it was open I’d clean it as well however was surprised that there was hardly any dust. Definitely not enough to cause any issues. Doing this every 6 months is great, but in between make sure to check those vents, remove the face plates and give them a good cleaning (check the dust catchers with a vacuum as well). It's a fast process and if you do it frequently enough you'll have less gunk reaching the fans - and worse - the heatsink.

Bought a £15 cleaning and disassembly kit from Amazon, heatsinks and the 'cheese grater' radiator block behind/below the fan are definitely the cause of most overheating issues as they get clogged very quickly, especially in dusty environments, I cleaned my heatsinks a few times and still had issues, so had to reach further into my console with a toothbrush to clean the radiator block itself. Definitely worth a look if anyone is having console issues, I could have made sculptures with the amount of dust I got.

Depending on where you live and whether you have pets or a smoker (of any kind) in your home, you might want to give it a cleaning every 3 months or at least check it that often. definitely check and clean … within my first year of owning my PS5 shut off randomly after about 30 minutes of usage. At my old house, the dust build up was really bad since my room was so small. So for about 9-10 months, I just gave up and thought my PS5 was broken forever. I really don’t know why opening up my system and cleaning the fan and everything inside didn’t cross my mind. As I moved into my new house a few months ago, I decided to give it a try because, hey why not at this point lol. After a quick clean and usage of a compressed air can, the system was good as new. I could leave it on for days if I really wanted to. The moral of the story is if your system is constantly turning off after short usage, just clean your fans. Don’t be like me lmfaooo

Something important that was failed to mention in the video is when taking the shells off the console. Which you have to hold the top corner that is on the front side and hold the bottom corner on the opposite side which is the back. The important part he forgot to mention is you have to Pull and PUSH down. Not just pull off or otherwise you can break the parts that attatch the shell to the console

Just cleaned mine today. I have a launch model and there was more dust in there than I anticipated. Not bad for 2 years though so I’ll probably give it another go yearly or so just for maintenance. It’s reallt not hard to do a quick cleaning. Most people will go the entire gen without cleaning it though. Dust accumulation varies depending on the room you keep it in. But dusting counters and such as well as vaccuuming or sweeping regularly can help mitigate this as well.

If your going to take it apart, might as well make it have positive air flow(meaning the fans have more intake air than out. Which pushes air out gaps instead of sucking in dust). Then filter for the intake(s). Dunno if possible, but thats more ideal. My pc virtually dust free and I haven't cleaned it in 2 years, beyond intake filters.

Edit: I guess I didn’t have a security driver version. Its ok though nothing pliers cant fix getting the other two screws out. The person I learned what driver to get didn’t say security driver but I know the difference now. I love how you can easily unscrew the fan screws. Two of mine got stripped nearly instantly. These types of screws seem so terribly designed with the little metal bit in the top middle where the driver goes so that they cant be better fitted deeper. Its like 5% of the drivers tip can fit in to the screw causing it to to keeps slipping over the edge damaging the screws.

You forgot to mention the Dust that builds up inside the PS5 system. When you remove the Fan and look down inside the console to where the power unit is. I clean my console regularly, but just recently found this on reddit. My console just turned off in the middle of playing, due to overheating. It's very hard to reach with a vacuum, but theres small holes. Mine were completely sealed. I used compressed co2 to blow the dust out. It's very important to clean too. Greetings and nice video.

This is why I have the PS5 near an air purifier that just feeds air onto the PS5 air space. Prevents significant dust build up and also better air circulation to remove heat while using the PS5. Been doing this since I got the PS5 and I think it helps.

I disconnect the fan blade and thoroughly wipe and remove all of the dust out, as well as clean a majority of the heatsink partially as well.
