"Cristiano Ronaldo had a bad tournament." No, not at all. Mbappé has had a bad tournament, with Cristiano it's simply age issue. He's done at the top level. But i think he'll continue. Ideal scenario for Portugal would be if he accepted a new role within the team as the last 20 minutes substitue. He could actually go on like this until the World Cup in 2026 which i think is his goal.

What has Messi got to do with Ronaldo's decision? Ronaldo left the EU then Messi left too. He doesn't follow anyone because he knows where the goes, everyone does, including his haters. Ordinary people should stop making assumptions on people who have business to run. There are people who were born unique and extra special than the rest of us. He Ronaldo is like Messi, no one would be interested in covering stories of him. Win or lose, he is still being followed. he will never announce his retirement. He was done at qatar he has wrapped himself so tight with martinez knowing he has a 4 year contract. Knowing he will be coach technically for wc in states. Anyone who thinks that an older player will be better in 2 years when age is the problem isnt in reality. Moving the free kick to try for goal, losing control of emotions with 15 mins left, playing with illegal advertising the problem is same throughout selfishness. Its beyond ridiculous he plays for records and money not trophies he has already stated champions league are more inportant than world cu how do you bring someone with that mindset with that lack of physical ability when they are also a nightmare to control in locker room, in media, and on field. Nobody plays better because hes playing they all defer instead out of respect and he then says he has no support its a toxic cycle that has to be broken They crossed the ball even forcing it more than any other team in tournament despite ronaldo never eveen getting on end of a single one. They had to cross because he cant get separation from any elite defenders anymore and he doesnt hold the ball up, doesnt run in behind, and doesnt drag defenders out of box all the little things that help a team win when you are struggling. Like morata on spain or even kane on england when they arent scoring they still serve the team ronaldo serves himself statistically, and financially at expense of portugal.

Terrible take. The crosses into him were terrible, especially the France game. Just terrible. You say they force the ball into him, I don't know what games you were watching. He made so many runs and was completely ignored. Better chances fell to Bruno and he missed them. Bruno also took selfish shots when passing was the better option. Yet, there is no criticism for his poor tournament. Ronaldo is made the scapegoat always. Nobody, nobody even close has given more for their national team and nation than Ronaldo has for the last 20 years. I know you aren't Portuguese so you would never understand what he means to the country. He is hated by the media and many pundits and they are lying to themselves if they say it has nothing to do with a Messi bias. No player in history is treated the way Cristiano is. Cristiano can retire whenever he feels its time. He, more than anyone else deserves that.
