I've been a very successful small business owner for over 20yrs now. I was very fortunate to have a mentor that taught me to prioritize physical fitness. He said that if you are not proactively taking care of your body it will give out. Buy a weighted jump rope and begin a simple calisthenics program. No gym membership needed! Oh, of course eat well too... mostly whole foods.

Thank you for all you are doing. Happy to hear you are healed. My passion is golf actually pretty good at it. Would love to create a business around golf within East Africa. So I have expertise there, also in the oil industry and also have expertise in the residential and commercial security business that would include CCTV, alarm systems etc (along with my brother). I think my challenge is figuring out the start. I would love to be in either TZ or Kenya (visited before).

@dr.harnet466 2 жыл бұрын
Dear Kokob, thank you for sharing and for your kind words. When we feel we want to disappear to get some time & peace, it is an urgent plea by the body, mind, and soul to get a break from 'life' as we often lead it. Most of us do not listen to our body's quiet voice and we keep going, pushing, or ignoring. That's where we then find ourselves getting ill, depressed, or we loose the joy. I hope you will listen to your inner voice and make the necessary changes. Anything else is secondary. I wish you all the best and a lot of strength from my heart.

So glad I just discovered you, Dr. Harnet. Beautiful heartfelt message! This one will inspire a countless number you may never know. May your healing continue -- it's an ever-evolving journey, after all, to contain ones energy while still working to positively impact others. Thank you for sharing this message that resonates for so many of us...especially women trying to balance many demands (including cultural) with our lives/biz/hearts, while living in the diaspora. Of particular interest ... please consider that some of us may receive value and a sense of community from your videos, even 'though we may be Africans living /based in the diaspora. An African business, especially in the age of the Metaverse, can/must become global, increasingly digital and virtual. Glad to share or discuss more on these types of opportunities. For now, thank you! It's never easy to step out and assume this type of responsibility, but hopefully rewarding.

I too have hit that "Wall". What I learned was that I was embracing the _Western Culture's_ definition of wealth: The blind pursuit of money and the material trappings of success, thinking that money = happiness. Poor people think that having a lot of money will make them happy and solve all of their problems. Wealthy people know that is not true.. Real wealth is the abundance of time and freedom to be who you are or want to be. It's the freedom to be oneself, to make an impact in someone's life and the opportunity to make a change that matters to you. Thus, if one doesn't have their Health, then one has nothing: Health (Physical and mental) is our _First Wealth._ If one lives under oppressive indignity, such as the Diaspora in America, it doesn't matter how big ones home is, or the expensive cars - when we see a fellow Person of Color brutalized by a system designed to maintain us as subordinate - we all feel the pain. A stress tax of internalized misery. Thanks in part to your motivation Dr. Harnet, I now sit here typing this comment in Tangier Morocco. co-owner of a business in Tanzania. My home is humble. I no longer desire the Western cultural insanity, as evidenced by what's going on in the states. I was able to escape the generational indoctrination. I am content on this soil. i appreciate all you do, but please, put yourself first.

Wow, your words and wisdom really touched me. Very true, very raw, and very conscious. I agree with everything you said - looks like we reached at the same conclusion like so many others. I have also started minimalism in all areas of life, because I realized that all the stuff is just cluttering our souls. Your words "Real wealth is the abundance of time and freedom to be who you are or want to be [...]" are so beautifully put and the truth I am living by. Getting better at it each day. So much to un-learn. Warm regards to you in Tangier (I love Morocco!) and let us keep building in a way that grows our own souls and our collective humanity, everything else is indeed just a facade that will sooner or later crumble. Thank you so much!

Im so happy you have recovered from the deep spiritual, mental, and physical exhaustion. This is what many of us, Black women are experiencing due to us working so hard to live up to the ideas of "Black Excellence" and "Black Girl Magic" these things are things that are making BW put themselves last. We need to learn that we ARE the excellence and we NEED to take care of ourselves first and foremost. I am glad you found this out before it got much worse. Put yourself first Dr. Harnet!

Biggest challenge is fear - you have limited resources, you've tried businesses in the past, and most of them have failed, how do you know you won't fail this time - can I afford to lose the money I invest if I fail... where will that put me financially (will it set me back a few years). That's what's stopping me. If I had the money, I wouldn't think twice, f*k it, let's go all in and invest $50k or $100k and see what happens, I'll still have another $50k or $100k and a house and car for myself/family. But what if you're not in that position and you're basically at near $0 because you're living month to month and would have to use debt.
@dr.harnet466
@dr.harnet466 2 жыл бұрын
I hear you J K. I built my entire business on a foundation of being broke, broken, and in debt, so I know it is possible. What I probably did not have is fear, because I had sunk so deep to the bottom that the only way was up plus, my fear to end up where I was proved to be far bigger than the fear of failing to get out. My best advice to you: 1. Focus on the many who have succeeded while being broke & broken, having studied hundreds of the most successful entrepreneurs around the globe, I can tell you that being broke and broken is a common thread on which many built their foundation. 2. Focus on business models you can star with little to nearly no money. There are many. Look, I have a little gift for you: drharnet.mykajabi.com/fastest-biz-in-africa - these are the cheapest business models, and you can start them where you are. There are many more. 3. Focus on educating yourself how to do business the right way, so that confidence grows bigger and the fear subsides. And never stop dreaming! I wish you all the best from my heart.
