The Albanese government’s expected second surplus in the next federal budget is only thanks to “other people’s hard work”, says Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume.
“Not Jim Chalmers' hard work,” she told Sky News Australia.
“It’s on the back of high commodity prices and of course bracket creep which is caused by inflation as people’s incomes move into higher and higher tax brackets.
“The hard part of course for Australians to stomach this is that they’ve had to make cuts to their household budgets because of that high inflation.
“It’s time Jim Chalmers did the same thing.”

It's time for voter aptitude criteria. If introduced, Labor would never win any election anywhere again 😊

Yes Jane we are sick of Albenese and his clown government but what is the coalition going to do to fix this mess? You need to start coming out with policies and plans to give us the alternative we are sick of both parties actually,, The only politicians that have comon sense are Jacinta price and Pauline Hanson,,,,(dis gruntled voter)

They just had last 10 years and f d us up so obviously they have no policies because they know they aren't getting back in. If Australia is very lucky, the majors will lose their primary votes and have minority govt so they need to do bidding of what needs to be done. $450m is nothing, a rounding error. But you will never hear them touching the Howard era pork going to middle and uppers to keep them in Porsches and Landcruisers. Like the GST deal that said States would kill payroll tax for GST, for Superannuation Concessions we were meant to kill CSHCC State Concessions worth nearly $5k a year that mortgagees don't get....think about that while retirees withdraw super tax free and continue getting CSHCCs.

Easy to have a budget surplus when you cut billions from defence and boarder control

This is from a party that watched inflation rise with the comment " nothing we can do about it". With billion dollar corporate handouts, a trillion dollar deficit. Chalmers is about to deliver a second surplus, coalition spent beyond there means, costing Australians dearly.
