​@@TNaizelyea but thats the naive way of evaluation. Like 3 pawns = 1 piece. It's just not true. A piece will most of the times will be worth more unless the pawns do some serious pawn stuff. Like 2 passed pawns pushing forwards can easily be worth a piece. A protected pawn on the seventh rank can be worth a piece or a rook and obviously when it can't be stopped it is just worth a queen or more if it can take stuff while queening.

Of only about four gambits I have memorized, this is one of them. I don't play it much, out of fear my opponent will make the correct move of the king, but I have beaten a couple folks with it. Folks probably don't expect this gambit.

I'm having a hard time understanding why, after Bd4 (15:15), can't black just play RxNc3 ? It looks like he would get two pieces for a rook, and you can't trap the Q anymore because of Qxc2. At first I thought black would have Qxe8+ but then realized that the knight defends that rook so now I don't see any problem with it at all.

Okay, so... Johnathan always plays these insane gambits, and it got me thinking that I'd be too afraid to take one of his pawns in the first ten moves. But then my *brain* took that thought and ran away with it. While watching this video, I found myself singing a parody of a Christmas carol as follows: You'd better watch out For that freakin' guy, You'd better watch out Or your king is gonna die. Zolpi's pawn is coming to town.
