Felony 11-79 was my go to test game for Playstation for a long time. The analogy to Chase HQ is a good one, because you want to cause some destruction, but not quite so much you run out of time. Also, in the full version, there's a bunch of different cars to unlock, that all have their own physics based on how large/fast they are.

To be fair to the game, at that point in the movie Hercules wasn't a god, just a demigod! This was a welcome surprise in my subscription feed, always glad for more Yesterzine. I should probably go and give my demo discs a proper look...

It's quite good to explore them now because, let's be honest, it's unlikely you'll now sink 40 hours into finishing a Final Fantasy or even maybe a G-Police. But 30 minute long nostalgic tasters are great.

There's a magazine every month and some of them have demos! This was just an opportunity because Alessandro kindly sent me it. But if you want more demo disk, episode 41 of the main series "Chocolate Teapot Factory" investigated The One's claim to have the "Best Disks ever". And on PS1 the demo disk came up in episode 25 "Afterthought Alley".

That demo disc (with Crash 2 / Between the eyes etc...) was the first one I got with my playstation (not counting the included Demo One) I've kept buying the magazine after that when I realised the Net Yaroze games are full homebrew games, Terra Incognita stays my favorite.

Euro Demo 15 GERMANY in 98 was my first DISC. Next Disc Euro Demo 31 (Italy).. then continued to buy until the end of 1999

Agree about the G-Police remake. I've always wanted a remake with the current graphics technology. I used to spend hours just flying, enjoying the blade runner - esque setting despite the draw distance.

With a bit of work on PC it is possible to throw a lot of power at a 3DFX->DirectX version and get both draw distance and frame rate. But of course the assets are still from 1997.

Would love to see you cover Yaroze games! Issue 42 (MGS cover) or issue 108 (final issue) of Official UK PlayStation Magazine would be the ones to cover if so as they had the most Yaroze games on them. 108 would make for an "interesting" episode considering the absolute skeletal new PS1 content in the mag. This was March 2004 after all - 4 years after the PS2 released!

I'm now wondering if the Doom noise is original- there's a sort of three-part hissy sound Clone uses which also appears in Doom II's final level, and I also know I've heard in other, non-game sources. Perhaps they both came from the same sound library?

It's entirely possible, although I suspect clone and their like did just rip them out of the files of DOS versions. Good recording might weirdly have been the hardest bit.

You may need to give me a timecode if I'm wrong but the only thing not from the disc in this episode would be the tune under the first 2 minutes. That's "12th Warrior" by Dr Awesome, better known as Bjorn Lynne. You may know him from a lot of Team 17's output, including the theme from the game Worms. It's been the main show's theme tune since the start.
