Thanks for the tips but honestly I do not think newspaper is the best because that will hold and maintain too much humidity and mold very easily. That is why most good tree wraps are coated to prever absorption of water. Based on several studies, just latex based white paint will reflect the sun enough to prevent those huge swings of temperature.
