Heart wrenchingly beautiful. I’m so happy Fred showcased this music to so many people.

seeing Johnny Costa (the piano player) and Wynton playing in the same room is beyond a blessing

The wonderful thing about this is this is a show for kids. This ain't no kiddy music! Because Fred understood that children would appreciate great music whether jazz or classical. This idea is lost on the producers of children's shows today.

Only few know the tire meaning of making childrens program... But i do have faith that those shows will shine biggee than the others

Wynton’s in that sweet spot between Miles Davis and Clifford Brown here. Also, this might be the only time we see him playing with an electric bassist.

Excellent observation on Wynton’s sound/approach on this very nice tune. Great little group, too.

@@michaelfoxbrassthe mood in the first part makes me think of a “chinatown” vibe like how Nicholas Payton would do it

Fred Rogers sang good songs for children of all ages...And Wynton understood that! No better homage could have been made to Rev. Rogers' salute to the potential for good and Godliness that resides in each person. R.I.P. Fred Rogers who i hope is somewhere better with the Lord (something i can not say quite as easily as many TV hosts) and am very grateful he lived to hear Wynton adapt his great song to his jazz trumpet!😊

Taken from Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood-Celebrations Part 3 aired May 1986. Marsalis was 24 back in 1986.

This song always needed a smooth jazz cover.

Johnny Costa (the pianist in this video as well as the show in general) has an album called "Johnny Costa Plays Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" which includes a rendition of "It's You I Like". Highly recommend the album if you haven't heard it!
