In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to become fixated on the idea of "getting there"-a mythical destination where all our dreams are fulfilled, and we finally achieve the success and happiness we've been striving for. However, this mindset often leads to a hollow existence, where the journey itself is overlooked in the relentless pursuit of an ever-elusive endpoint.
A few years into my journey, I came to a profound realization: life is not meant to be a mere series of tasks to be checked off. I was so focused on the destination that I neglected the journey, missing out on the beauty of everyday moments and the richness of experiences along the way.
Shifting my perspective allowed me to see that life isn't about reaching a final destination but about appreciating the path we walk every day. It's about being present, cultivating gratitude, and understanding that the real rewards lie in the moments we live, not in the goals we check off. This mindset shift has transformed my approach to life, allowing me to find deeper meaning and lasting happiness in the journey itself. In this video I talk exactly about that.

I grew up in a family whose motto was work hard, always do your best, finish what you start. One day it came to me that much of my stress and unhappiness came from these things. Why would I work hard at a job I hated? What if my best was never going to be good enough? (I took music lessons for years and still can’t play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on a kazoo.) Why would I want to finish a project I considered boring and useless just to prove I could? I was doing things that were expected of me not things I truly valued. When I gave up these kind of things and began doing things that I found pleasant and meaningful, my life got better and better. - To thine own self be true…

I agree that we have been brainwashed by the society or our family to do things all the time. I promised myself to rest this week and do pretty much nothing and my mind started going crazy, thinking what I have to do next. Even my mother told me to find a job because I am unemployed for a long time. I am going to a therapist here, too. She actually told me that seeking for help is a sign of strength, not a weakness.Thank you for this video, Seve. Indeed, debt is such a trap. A person in debt is not free at all. Without debt we can have some degree of freedom at least. It takes a toll, though, to swim against the tide of what most people do. It is good to find support for a simpler and freer life, isn't it!
