It's weird to me how piccolo making a wish for more power feels more deserved than the power up Gohan got in this film. Like at least Piccolo's made more sense as he's just unleashing his potential, but Gohan......You're really telling me that you barely trained and all you had to do was get mad and you would have become the strongest in the Universe? Like really? If you're a Gohan fan and this didn't bother you then you are fine with anything Dragon ball and don't care if these people fight literal potatoes.

The next movie we may as well make a wish to make Tien, Yamcha, Krillin and Chaozu relevant again. Hell- may as well go for 18 and Buu while we are at it… Fuck it. Chi-Chi, Bulma, Puar, and Yajarobi should get power ups too so they can all be fighters on the battlefield. This way Chi-Chi can scold Goku both on and off the battlefield.

@@theredheadhenry its funny that you say that because I actually love the reincarnated as Yamcha story. The thing about that though is that the writer understood the limitations of the character within the dragon ball franchise. So even though Yamcha became more awesome, when it got to the Cell Saga that was pretty much it for the character as there is no reasonable way he could have contributed without it coming off as unrealistic within the worlds established rules. I really think toriyama needs to take a step to the side and allow someone to write the story based off the original lore. Super needs to end and a new timeline needs to take place.

I'm fucking done with Dragon Ball after watching this shitload movie. I've been a fan of the franchise for about 25 years. Super Hero is a disgrace, and it's confirming that Dragon Ball will keep it that way for a long time: bullshit transformations and power ups, lame characters who look like anything but fighters, poor writing overall, a defiance of all logic (Shenron making Piccolo stronger after an "upgrade" is one example, as they could have done it so many times before instead of letting fighters train their shit out), etc. Should I speak about the ruining of Goku's character as well? Go home, Dragon Ball Super, you're drunk!

Hated 4 things 1. Gohans new transformation feels undeserved and cheap... It was pulled out of thin air for plot convenience (the design is bad too) 2. Major contradictions... Multiple times characters portrayed unbelievable and out of character actions eg goku seemingly even more brain dead, Gohan slacking of on his training despite promesing to never do it again in super etc 3. Broly was said to be in the movie... And to be fair he was......... For about 30 seconds, if I'm promised Broly I want to see him fight I want to see him be awesome, but Broly was barely a feature 4. This is just a personal opinion. As much as I thought I was tired of seeing Goku save the day time and time again... Gohan doing it didn't feel right to me, I like Gohan but I personally believe hes a flat character as compared to goku or vegeta..he doesn't have that wow factor anymore. I think this movie would have been better if goku or vegeta took the lead. Little annoyances/ cell max was a terrible final villain, I was lead to believe that he was supposed to be better than cell original. Giant battles against smaller enemies aren't endgame material, norebhow the highlight of goku VS vegeta wasn't when vegeta went great ape Trunks and goku finally grew up only to do nothing but try to be funny I guess. Bulmas use of the dragon balls Ending the fight with a special beam cannon of all moves, I get piccolo is Gohans master but I think it's tradition at this point to end the battle with a full power Kamehameha... It just sound better Gohan beast is a dumb name for a transformation and it make no sense in what it is... Is it a variant of super saiyin 2? Or a mix of potential unless and super saiyin 2 As bad as the transformation was it didn't feature longer than 10 minutes which is kind of a let down Final problem if you got this far.......... The power scaling of dragon ball has been messed up since the frieza arc but this movie messed it up to an unimaginable degree.... Cell max is said to be the strongest foe ever faced from the z fighters I'll assume this excludes beerus... But that still implies that cell max was stronger than the like of jiren and broly!? This I find very difficult to believe because that would mean Gohan is now stronger than ultra ego and ultra instinct goku and more... Also this would mean piccolo is now on oar with goku and vegetal which is also hard to believe Yeah I think I'm done now the rest are all just small complaints (which there are many).. Maybe I was in the wrong for being so critical towards the movie, it seems to be targeting a younger audience but still this is cannon so I'm annoyed

Dragonball needs to have its old man logan type of story, but for goku. Let them grow older, show their struggle of passing time and wrap up their journey, sideline them and make room for another character to take over or end the franchise there. What they are doing right now is Pokémon, a story stuck in a loop forever, made only to cycle older fans and new ones thus making money but never needing to risk change

In their eyes, a new series with a new set of characters is risky, you see. Dragon Ball Super runs like clockwork on milking nostalgia. Hell, why do you think Gohan’s new form had the long bang and super spikey hair + a piccolo outfit. If I had a dollar for every nostalgia bate moment from Super, I’d be a millionaire. TL;DR - While that would be amazing, I just don’t see it happening. The closest thing we’ll probably ever get to that is Dragon Ball GT’s beautiful conclusion in “The Heroes Legacy”

I stop recently watching those big KZbinrs who cover Dragon Ball all time because how much they gatekeep meaning I never seen them give any fair criticism or go in depth with the criticism in which the series deserves just praises constantly and u can tell they care more about making money instead of wanting a great series like Z was. I have been saying that since BoG. Dragon Ball has become fanfiction. Literally anything people made fun of fan wishes came true and the awfuls things they are writing. The writers of this show, not only Toriyama, have no interesting direction for Dragon Ball to take. Hence they copy from fanfiction which usually comes down in: - unoriginal power ups - repeating character arcs - flanderization - inconsistent power ups Gohan got a power nerve only to get a newer more bigger power up how many times now? And I won't be surprised if he were to lose all the power he got in this movie and needs to "train" to regain it again. Just like how Piccolo only exist to be Gohan's meatshield and Vegeta being obsessed with Goku. Not to mention Frieza returning over and over again. It makes me genuinely depressed that I don't like this movie. When I really started to notice how it wasn't really impressing me I started to feel almost anxious. The tone and pacing feel totally inconsistent. One minute its fast and action filled and the next there is all this slice of life stuff. It sort of felt like it was both a filler episode and a canon episode, which is not a good combination. Piccolo didn't feel entirely like Piccolo. In fact no one really felt all the way in character because of the jarring and completely unnecessary animation style that it made it feel like I was watching Beastars. Beerus finding Cheelai attractive already doesn't seem completely right, but him actually acting different as a result like he has a real crush on her feels completely wrong for his character. The fight with Goku and Vegeta was underwhelming and you can tell it was supposed to be fan service. A lot of this movie is fan service, stale call backs, and a shameless amount of exposition. Gamma 1 and 2 feel too strong. Cell Max isn't a good character. Gamma 2 being dead and it being implied that he doesn't have a soul so that means he is completely gone is just a cruel thing to put in a story, especially in a verse where that's not what happens with most people. Whis not noticing Bulma's communication attempt because of a tub of ice cream is just plain silly and hard to believe. And considering that is sort of what allows the entire movie to even occur, it sort of ruins the entire plot's believability. Broly crying after the fight felt too comedic for his character. Also, if you're going to have Broly, BROLY, in a movie I feel like you should actually use him. If you aren't going to use him, why even have him in the movie? The entire presence of Goten, Trunks, Krillin, and 18 doesn't feel necessary. Fat Gotenks is not funny. Piccolo and Gohan's new forms feel unearned, but Gohan's is worse than Piccolo's. And speaking of Gohan. When are Gohan "fans" gonna just let Gohan be Gohan? He doesn't like to fight. Get over it. You'd think being a fan of character would mean having some kind of empathy for them, but people who claim to love Gohan seem to actually be sadistic towards him and want to put him in situations where they know he will suffer and get mad. I could probably go on but I've already probably said too much. I didn't even watch this video yet, so a lot of what I say will probably be in it too.

I'm at a weird spot with Dragon Ball. When Star Wars started to decline horribly, I would see some fans with reactions like "well, its still fun Star Wars stuff...I don't really care about all of the details" while I would be baffled and ask how they could accept such lame storytelling and disrespect to characters and nonsense narrative building. Yet....when I sit down to watch something like Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Dragon Ball Super: Superhero...I find myself in that same position. Regardless of all of the nonsense or things that don't make sense, uneven storytelling...I can't help but enjoy it. The best of the narrative ended after the Frieza arc. For me, EVERYTHING since the Frieza arc was "just nonsense for fun" and frankly....Super is just more of that. Once you bring in time travel and make everyone a super saiyan and try to convince me that the Red Ribbon Army could make androids that far exceed the power of all of those super saiyans who exceeded the power of Frieza...who was supposed to be the ultimate power of the universe.....once you do all of that, it is all nonsense. A scenario where Frieza is made to look like a chump to buff-up Earth-Made android villains...along with time travel and 'everyone is a super saiyan and super saiyan isn't even that big of a deal' stories....then this already becomes a dead narrative. It is just a world occupied by characters you love who seek greater power and have epic fights to save the world. That has been the only goal of Dragon Ball for YEARS, long before Super was ever thought of. Power ups, mega fights, lovable characters, little else. People want to act like it all of a sudden "became bad" and "turned into nonsense" when in fact, that happened years ago during mainline Z and we all continued to go for the ride because we love the world and characters so much.

Honestly, as a fan myself, it was honestly not as good as I hoped it would be when I saw the very first trailer. I'm a Dragon Ball fan myself, today's my bday, making me 20 years old. Spoiler: I have seen it on KZbin when it came out, it got taken down obviously. The two things that bothered me was Gohan's new form. It honestly never made sense to me, because Gohan stopped training both after Cell's defeat and Buu, so for him to get this form was honestly ridiculous. I mean, I'm glad that they gave Gohan some love, but at the same time they didn't really give it as well as they did when he went ssj2. The other thing was Gotenks, I was really excited to see adult Gotenks in the movie, but then we got his chubby self which made me upset. I'm glad to see Gotenks, except it's the wrong one. Despite all that, I think it's okay, not amazing, but decent for me.

Superhero is shit, I watched it multiple times. Gohan fans should be outraged by the forced ass-pull transformation he gets. It doesn't feel deserved, as you called out Henry. SS2 for Gohan was peak for his character. Gohan should have just remained Daddy Gohan in the show, or actually be given the time required to develop back into a badass. The quick 1+ hour movie doesn't cut it. Gohan fans are just blinded by his new shiny white hair, mostly because they have waited for so long for this moment not seeing the through the trees. This is a poor story for both Gohan and Piccolo. It's sad. BRING BACK GOOD DRAGON BALL!

I also agree with you on super. Its great to have more dragon ball, but we must remain critical of the medium. They need to do their own shit rather then ride the coattails of their previous success. It just seems lazy in my opinion, like a copy pasted essay. They would get a zero if this was English for plagiarization - keep in mind you can plagiarize yourself. The art work of super was also really off when it first came out...like low budget levels of bad. I think they fixed some of it but it just goes to show they kind of stopped caring at some point. This movie brings out the worst of Dragon Ball since it's revival. Gohan having to have his hand held, and coddled into becoming strong, like he's 9 years old, when he's 20 something and has a child of his own is especially hilarious. Dragon Ball Heroes like asspulled transformations. A lazy recycled plot, with a lazy recycled villain(the worst one too). People saying they aren't making excuses, but blaming it on marketing just doesn't sit right with me. This thing is just not good. Hopefully with a retelling in a future possible anime they can actually tell a proper story, and build up Gohan and Piccolo. The Pan and Piccolo scenes worked for me though, that was fun, the rest bleh.

I hate the movie, I'm sorry but the moment I saw Gohan's new form in the leaks and how he achieved it I thought someone released a false video of just a repeat of ssj2 vs cell. What made it worst was seeing "Cell Max" and then realizing it wasn't fake. The red ribbon army should be extinct by now, like honestly for all they done in the past I'm surprised there isn't an active manhunt for anything remotely resembling them, so I don't understand as to how they have people still alive to make new androids/cyborgs. The power scaling in DBS is making less sense by the minute- Goku gets the power of the legendary super saiyan god, he then adds that power to his Ssj creating blue, okay. Now let's roll to the tournament of power during its recruitment phase. Half these people he's recruiting somehow went through training to keep up with his blue state or force him to jump to it. What kind of training did they do to make them close the gap by that much idk because I have not seen any of them even use the time chamber or use he deagonballs for a limit remover. The new forms are also a problem, there's way too many of them, Like I get Gohan got his potential unlocked in Dbz but at this point they are using his position as a half saiyan with his innate potential as a crutch for everytime he gets into trouble or they write themselves into a wall with a strong adversary for him. He did not deserve that beast transformation in the movie from just watching piccolo get slapped. I'm surprised he didn't get his new form the moment he heard pan was in danger. They try so hard to make him an exception to the ssj transformations but it's painfully obvious they are running out of ways to make him unique. Not to mention the other half saiyans goten and trunks are just joke characters at this point. They are the new vegeta- they rush in, get a few minutes of beating the enemy, mess up and get clapped. You would think characters who's main power comes from their fusion would learn how to manage their limited time in its state, build up their individual power to use it as a last resort (God knows how many times they have spoken about either training to get strong, wanting to come on dangerous missions or get called out for relying on fusion but in the end do nothing to improve) or learn the damned dance so they don't screw up while doing it, yes I know they are kids but at this point just give them potaro earrings if the dance is that complicated to pull off. We didn't see either goku, vegeta or gohan training in either of these forms to perfect them, it's always gotta go higher, go higher and I'm surprised they arnt running into the same problem they called out frieza on when he came with his golden frieza form, a new form with little training burning through their energy. It seems like they are moving from the characters perfecting their power, figuring out the flaws each form has and instead they are rushing the story by just handing out new forms to compensate and the explanation for these new forms is getting crappier each time. Not to mention that with each new form, we see less of the old ones. DBS:SH has been promoted, talked about, discussed, theorized and leaked for over a year. Dragon Ball fans knew it was coming. Couldn't agree more. I absolutely felt the graphics were done by a video game artist. They felt so artificial and polished without the grittyness you get in the anime that I actually like. Piccolo looks like he's never taken damage before in his life. They've reduced him to a nanny and the overall writing was so unoriginal for this. Let's do Red Ribbon and androids like it hasn't been worn out completely already and beef up an old villian and call it the max form. The 1 and 2 look like saiyaman's evil but equally ridiculous looking counterparts. The hair color transformation always felt lazy to me. They do Gohan even worse by keeping him look pretty much normal all the time. I still watch it cuz I love Vegeta and he is the only one with real development but definitely anything I see from them since Super started just feels like a nostalgic cash grab from a creator that just doesn't have any fresh ideas left.

The way both of these characters got these transformations pissed me off. Such lazy fanservice. It’s as bad or worse than the Universe 6 SSJ transformations. Piccolo really got such a MASSIVE power boost from Shenron. He could have done that in any prior saga and actually be just as powerful as the villain. And Gohan went from being completely out of practice to stronger than Goku and Vegeta in a few hours MAX. The movie started out pretty good and then it feels as though they rushed everything in the last 30 minutes. The ending scene is completely trash. Goten and Trunks fuse for absolutely no reason.

Cell max was a joke and felt like no real threat. I'm glad piccolo got a new form but I havent actually seen how he's achieved it. The franchise has been nothing but nostalgia bait and fan service since Z ended almost a decade ago now. With Toriyama gone, it'll just be those two things. Yeah the guy already decided to keep away from it for years , but he still had some hand in what was created. Now though, DB is going to be completely corporate. You can't expect a company to create anything original. They can only repeat what the spread sheets say could make money. They brought back the red ribbon army for crying out loud. And this film is also technically canon, which whatever "qualifies" as canon, that in and of itself has been questionable due to Toe bringing out the nearly lifeless corpse of this franchise, churning out a movie to kick off a new series, never having a clear singular direction they wanted to take it, create a manga that's its own separate thing they'll say is "canon". As much as I appreciate the sentiment, I have to correct you here. Goku never mastered UI, so calling it MUI is silly. In fact, after fighting Jiren, Goku was no longer able to tap into UI. And in the Moro arc he was training with Merus to learn more about UI. And at the end of it finally managed to tap into UI at will. He still has no mastery over UI at this point... He's training with Whis, Whis saying that Whis' UI is better than Merus', and the Grand Priest's UI is better than Whis', with Goku saying "so you're saying I'm at the bottom of the ladder huh?" First I want to say that you're a really nice guy for allowing us to speak our opinion on how we think that Dragonball z has changed I know that you really want to see dragon Ball be the number one best-selling manga and series of all time but that's never going to happen after all we're in the new next generation of where anime and manga have changed drastically for the series and for anybody butt because of that new riders and creators have made their own new stories to show why they love dragon Ball z a lot and many others so that's why dragon Ball z might not be number one again because of how it is it's not because so many other creators really appreciate dragon Ball as a hole so I'm going to say this specifically I'm being very honest and if you disagree with me then that's perfectly fine dragon Ball z and its other many different types of counterparts have been different and many other places GT has shown us why we love many parts of dragon Ball z but it doesn't really stand out as its own it doesn't really give us any reason to like it at all GT just feels like an excuse to make us all of dragon Ball z a lot more Super well yes it does feel like a cash grab you're A thought just came to me about this movie. It is the same story with Gohan again only this time it is the worst version of it because of Super. Now I didn't watch the movie but from what I got from reviews. Gohan stops training again for the third time either though in Frieza Arc 2.0 Gohan ask Piccolo to train him again so he could protect his family and to make sure that something like earth being destroyed never happens again. So Super Hero thorws out all of Gohan's character development and says Gohan doesn't care about his family. Then also says we got Goku and Vegeta to handle stuff. Right sure because that work out so well the last time with Frieza. I thought Gohan was supposed to be smart? All this move foes is reuse plot points from the Buu arc, and Dragon Ball Super that we already show from Gohan only worst because of Gohan already learning this at the end of the Frieza Movie Arc which he should already have learned back in the Buu arc.

I didn't really enjoy Super. Didn't even watch the series in its entirety, but the few cool things they did right I enjoyed. Not enough though, and it kinda sucks because in the Dragonball and Z series every character had some time in the spotlight. Tree of Might and World's Strongest were my favorite movies because it focused on the Z warriors before super Saiyan even became a thing. This, just makes me wish the series ended after the Buu saga or even GT because at least with GT it was a final way of saying the journey was at an end and even ended on a bittersweet note with kid Goku and Vegeta at the tournament with a retired Pan.

I agree, both the manga and anime are regurgitations of the previous narrative on LSD. Its as if almost they ran out of ideas or Toriyama is using his notes rehashing things over and over. Would make sense that 21 able upgrade herself to Majin 21 when she decided to steal DNAs again from Z-fighters (Since previous DNA they stolen are outdated and thought all Z-fighters improved once again so they need a new one) also Buu's DNA probably do biggest changes to her that make her par on Gohan, Piccolo and SSJ3 Gotenks especially if the 3 gone train awhile in their free time then in the end, Gohan probably be last one standing against 21 and beaten her and instead killing her she just spare her instead and give her a chance... That ironically throwbacks to OG Dragon ball where Goku spare his enemies and Gohan isn't much fighting too which make sense for him to spare her... Since 18 is there too, she can explain that her and 17 are the ones killed Gero and not the Z-fighters as well find a way to convince her to give up the revenge plan she has and ending will be RR Army and Z-fighers go separate ways and go back to their normal lives again

Super hero is genuinely garbage, if daima is worse I'll be impressed. Super hero is just "remember the cell saga" for a whole movie. Two androids get made by a doctor Gero specifically made to defeat the Z warriors and one immediately shows their power by taking out one of the pre-established powerful characters, piccolo goes to the lookout in order to gain more power to defeat the Android threat, only for there to be a third, stronger Android being Cell. Then everyone fights Cell, with one of the androids sacrificing themselves only for it to do Jack shit vs Cell and Gohan whips out beast because I guess he just didn't fucking care enough in the ToP

The movie sucks they ruined everything I loved from dragon ball z they ruined the nostalgia of Gohan turning super sayian 2 by doing the same thing but not trained for it and stolen fan transformation of gohan blanco, they messed up cell, they ruined piccolo and the other characters I hate this film alot

I don’t understand 😭 I wasn’t a fan of the movie but it wasn’t for these reasons. I loved Piccolo getting a new form (and the connection with the dragon balls). I also loved the idea of not Goku and Vegeta getting a movie. I expect Goten and Trunks to still be useless because the writers hate them, and I love the fact Gohan’s a nerdy biologist since that’s relatable as hell. I wasn’t happy because they killed off the android with actual character (not the cut and paste stoic one) and he died for no reason when they could’ve wished for Goku back, Gohan got his power up since Piccolo got roughed up and not even seriously hurt, can’t wish back androids even though you can wish for a larger ass and anything else in the world basically, there was some ecchi in this which felt really weird for a Dragon Ball Super move (feels like we haven’t gotten cringe ecchi jokes since Dragon Ball the original), and Piccolo felt so out of character. He was so goofy, speaking out loud when he’s supposed to be spying and felt so absent minded. He let Gohan’s daughter be KIDNAPPED.

Couldn't agree more. I absolutely felt the graphics were done by a video game artist. They felt so artificial and polished... without the grittiness you get in the anime, that I actually like. - Piccolo looks like he's never taken damage before in his life. --They've reduced him to a nanny, and the overall writing was so unoriginal.... for this. ‐-- "Let's do Red Ribbon and androids again!!" like it hasn't been worn out completely... "already and beef up an old villian - and call it: Perfect Cell max... " 😎😎😎 👌 The 1 and 2 androids, look like Saiyaman's evil, but equally ridiculous looking counterparts. The hair color transformation always felt lazy to me. They do Gohan even worse by keeping him look pretty much normal all the time. I still watch it ... - cuz I love Vegeta, and he is the only one with real development... but definitely anything I see from them, since Super started .... just feels like a nostalgic cash-grab from a creator .... that just doesn't have any fresh ideas, (or writing talents left.) *Comment revised* by me ~

We could technically say this is the fourth DBS movie if we count BoG and RF. I personally didn't like BoG or RF so those flicks kind of felt pointless and boring to watch. Best DBS movies: Super Broly > Super Hero > Battle of Gods > Resurrection F Golden Freeza looks more of a p*rn toy, but that's just my opinion.

I agree with you definitely a polished turd and the worst part about the movie they don't even take the Dragon Balls serious anymore. Bulma got butt implants, Piccolo got a booster shot from Shenron and Gohan through a tantrum because his dad was getting beat up not killed. now he's the strongest fighter in the universe? don't even get me started with those cringy ass jokes throughout the movie I may have laughed once or twice but that was it. the action scenes were okay some of the camera movement was unnecessary and they only showed Goku Vegeta and Broly for 5 minutes this movie was hot garbage with a splash of doo doo water they were trying to hard with this one

Gohan has the most potential of any of the z fighters, he was able to reach super Saiyan 1 and 2 after a year of training, so I imagine it wouldn’t take much too push him too the next form. If just goes too show how far gohan can go when forced to, and if he continued to train, then he might be even stronger than whis

I watched the movie yesterday and really enjoyed it, it felt like one of the classic Z movies where everyone unites to take him down. The one thing I seriously hated was the score, I mean.. It sounded more like background noise than actual music. Why the hell didn't Toei hire Sumitomo for the movie? I hope there'll be a fan who mixes the Japanese or English dub with Sumitomo, Yamamoto, or Synthesized Kikuchi score. Sato Naoki's score is just junk.
