Max isn’t a skilled mover. Part of the cost of paying movers is that they know how to move heavy things without getting hurt. And, the employer pays into workers compensation in the event an employee is injured on the job. Nobody wants Max hurt trying to lift a huge heavy marble table. And nobody wants Steve and Terry held liable if Max gets hurt on the job. Nobody wants Max suffering for the rest of his life with back injuries sustained on the job.

I hired a Japanese company to move my house it was painless, stress free, and organized. we moved from a third floor apt to a second floor apt that was one state away. I tell you what I've moved a lot of heavy equipment in my time. This guy just ticks me off to no end. Doesn't convey any kind of pre plan or backup plan with his employees. (Which during a lift you should always do.) Expects his employees to know exactly what he is thinking Talks down to his employees when they don't know what he's thinking. Micro Manages to the smallest detail and yet still somehow manages to screw it up. As I was watching him tie the straps down if I hadn't already seen the marble table in the new place during the brittle live stream I would have sworn they were going to break it. Not sure what they charged you but it was to much, especially for a furniture crew to move something that heavy from a difficult location.

It seemed to me that they were just day laborers. I thought he did okay with the pre-planning but he did lose his temper a few times. Having a camera there doesn't help with the stress level either. What did bother me was that nobody used a tape measure. The plan of leaning the slab to the side went out the window when they got it to the stairs and realized it would fit vertically.

@@ibtrollinya69 ive never moved a marble slab this big out of a basement, but guarantee id get the job done as quick as they did. the more important thing here that was already said was there was no pre-planning, i would of made a fixture to slide the table up the stairs and extensions so everyone could equally push it up at the same time. shouldnt bid a job you can't do well.

I found the video painful to watch with all those guys not wearing safety shoes. Sure, there's a limit of how much compression force a top cap can withstand, but it's WELL above the ~500lbs that the marble table weights. Kids, don't try this at home!
@eclark53520
@eclark53520 6 жыл бұрын
Total myth. If something is heavy enough to crush a steel toe in a boot, you wouldn't have toes left regardless. Without a steel toe, your toes would be unrecognizable. With a steel toe, however, they may be able to save them after cutting the boot off. Steel toe shoes are far safer in 100% of incidents where something heavy falls on your foot.

Yeah, I was astounded at the lack of equipment. When I hired movers they came with a bunch of gear including body harnesses to which they attached the straps they had fixed around the furniture. Not to mention the most basic of safety gear like gloves.

Agreed. I kept yelling at the screen "Those straps you are putting on the marble will do NOTHING. You need a sling at the front and a sling at the back, with a wooden handle on each end for grabbing onto. Period.Ideal would be body harnesses that you can hook the slings onto so that your entire body can support the weight not just your flimsy wrists. And I'm not even a mover.

Use the wider straps designed to go over the shoulders so people can really use body core leverage and legs to lift, instead of trying to grasp side straps like a rope and straining the neck and arms.

Also just wanted say...I found these videos randomly by reading Craig's comments to "josef lincoln" videos...and was just curious who made them...what a good happy decision!! Started watching last summer and so glad I stuck with them I have learned alot about the patience and dedication steve and "mom" has devoted themselves too the art of true hand crafted candy making and carrying on the family business! Please do not sell out the the big business apes! Thank you again 3 comments later!🌝⭐🌜🌟🌠

The boss is a bully, he had no patience at all. Red shirt is the one with the patience. The US need to get some health and safety legislation too, none of them have protective footwear or gloves. This was like watching something from the 1970's.

@@Letslearn-i2q I think Fester tried to tell you that "I would _have_ lost it" would have been correct. I don't get why so many Americans say "would of" either. It just doesn't make sense. 🤔
@Galen1771
@Galen1771 6 жыл бұрын
Comes from the contraction for "would have" ("would've" ) which sounds similar to "would of" which is how some people mistakenly think it should be spoken and written out.

The reason why this move was so hard is because there is no counting system. Like 1 2 3 lift, Move ext. but I give it up to the old man for holding it as long as he did on the stairs.

That was intense. And the academy award goes to Hercules Candy for tge most gripping and nail biting video on youtubes. There was comedy, and relief, and fear, and a casualty, rip wall corner, it was an emotional roller coaster that had a happy ending. Im glad that marble made it to a new home.congrats you guys.

Oh wow, the struggle, though I was wondering if they couldn’t set up a stopper of some sort, that could be adjusted to keep the table at the last height pushed up. That way it wouldn’t have to be let back to the ground, and basically back to zero. Crazy how cramped they all were. Great to see that they were all able to get it up and to the new place without major incident to the table and everyone else. Whew~!

The crack in that marble can be repaired on site at the new shop with food grade epoxy. Find a local granite counter top installer and talk to them about it. I have a family friend that does this often in Las Vegas and the Phoenix area.

Steve, At 12:12 i noticed a jack set on cinder blocks where the center of the marble slab is located. While i can appreciate the existing stand need some help in supporting the weigh, it would be a huge disaster if that slab were ever to have all of it's weight supported in the center at any given time. Those cinder blocks and jack had the potential to cut that slab in half.
