Anson said in an interview that Jeffrey Hunter's son told him that his father would have approved. As we sadly lost Jeffrey long ago, that's the closest we'll ever get to an official passing of the torch, and since Anson has been a "Trek" fan since childhood, it must have been so touching to him. I can't wait to see him return as Captain Pike in the upcoming "Strange New Worlds" series.

@@heavyarms01h --- I'm so excited that Anson Mount had been chosen to be Pike in the Startrek: Strange New Worlds series. He has been trying for years to get big parts in Movies & TV series but its hard. He was lead in the TV series called "Hell On Wheels" and he was so GREAT & AWESOME IN THAT role playing CULLEN BOHANNON for 5 years.

I liked him. I also liked that he wanted the names for the whole bridge crew before even engaging warp. Team player. Plus it was somewhat of a running gag for the fanbase that we barely knew the bridge crew at all yet. In any other season of Trek each one of them would have had a whole script's A or at least B story for us to to get to know them better in an episode. :) Gives me hope they heard our "storyboard" complaints even whilst having to fish through the rampant blind anger online to locate the actual constructive criticism. Good job.

Mount isn't Pike. Pike is a character played by Mount. I know you like him but have you seen ANY other ST captain introduces the bridge crew like you are him do? No, Thid ONLY became a necessary thing for DSC. There are major characters and minor ones. This is the very FIRST Trek where the so called fans have an interest in the minor characters. Can you name the entire TOS, TNG or VOY bridge? No!
