Pike is my favorite captain. Granted I haven’t watched the other shows yet but I’m not sure how anyone could top pike. He’s so selfless and compassionate and I wish I could meet someone like him.

Pike is the future of the ST universe

The simple fact that Pike knowingly went to his fate, even when given a choice of NOT taking the crystal and avoiding it, makes him my personal favorite Starfleet Captain. I play regularly in a Star Trek Adventures RPG game and modeled my PC leadership style off of this man's brief appearances in ST lore(before he showed on Discovery)...In full honesty, i model a lot of my RPG characters off of this man. Well done video, my fellow trekkie, Well Done!

I love this addition to the story that Discovery brought, and it makes him just that much stronger of a character. It's one thing to face adversity when it happens, but a whole other thing to see your fate in your future and have a choice to walk away but still choosing it. The agency that they gave his character to take the reigns of his destiny knowingly is a powerful twist to the story that we already knew for so long. He's always been a hero of mine and I'm glad that this new chapter of his story gave us so much! I'm glad you like the video! Thank you!!

You couldn't say that about really any of the other main Captains. Kirk famously did not believe in a no-win scenario, going so far as to cheat the infamous Kobayashi Maru test. He'd be spending every moment he could looking for a way to come out of that engine room alive and whole. Picard maybe would have done the same as Pike, but he'd argue that the future isn't set in stone and convince Q to make sure that it doesn't happen. Sisko actually comes the closest to what Pike went through with the Prophets telling him that he would find no rest on Bajor. Sisko would have just ignored the warning here and be caught completely off-guard when the future catches up. Janeway would get out of that fate because time travel. Archer wouldn't have even taken the crystal in the first place. He'd have derped somewhere along the way.

@Samartitan_Prime -- much as it pains me to agree with you 'bout the other Captains in ST Lore, your right. Kirk has a bad case of stubborn pride and refuses to back down(probably due to his father issues in both timelines). While he is generally a good captain, he just wouldn't fit with the Discovery crew on this. As much as everybody worships the ground Jean-luc walks on(he practically brainwashed his senior officer imho), he was just too non-violent to handle the CONTROL issue Discovery found itself in. Even IF he had the most experience fighting the Borg. Sisko would've done well untill it got to the Angel stuff, then he'd become this emotionally disconnected mess that'd flip-flop on what to do. He also tends to go "Moby Dick" on anyone that crosses him, so that's a big no-no. Janeway would remind the crew too much of their previous Captains(as they unfortunately have similar leadership styles) for it too work effectively. Archer could work out, as his style is more along the lines of Pike's, but he's notoriously hard to earn the trust of, and it would've took them nearly dying to get him to trust Berman.

Love him. Best Starfleet captain i n history, and a beautiful tribute. A nice touch that made me snicker was Philippa Georgiou's appearance timed with "don't blame the devil"

I wonder if this is a alternative time line apart* from the Movies series of Star Trek with Chris P. Remember when the OG Spock said that he came from another time line in the future.

Star Trek Discovery takes place in the Prime Timeline, where the Prime older Spock played by Leonard Nimoy is from. The films by JJ Abrams and Justin Lin are set in the Kelvin timeline, a timeline that was created after Prime Spock and Nero were pulled into the black hole and went back in time and created a divergent timeline.
