When I was a Peds resident, waaaaay back in tha day, I would volunteer to take call on the day of Christmas Eve through Christmas morning. It was the quietest night of the year for the ED & wards. The nurses would put on some soft holiday tunes at the nurses station that night and we would go from room to room delivering the presents "from Santa." Those were my best call days. Happy Holidays, ZDoggMD!!!!

IR doc here... love it! Especially the radiologist hedge part. The hedge is our national tree after all... A good day for me would be getting at least some history more than "pain" with all imaging studies (garbage in, garbage out people), having all my patients consentable and NPO for their procedures, and having none of those 5pm phone calls that start with "oh good, you're still here..."

And my jimmy runs deep, so deep So deep put her butt to sleep My Foley runs deep, so deep, that RT had to crank tha peep. You're a genius man. Your mind is able to place the best words that only apply in the medical world into a song that goes way back when gangsta rap was popular. Anyone can rhyme. Its an Algorithm. But to be able to formulate it so well, certainly takes special skills. keep it up. 🖒🖒🖒

As a hip hop fan and a believer in lyrics I think you knocked it out the park. Stayed true to the original classic lyrics and kept the medical terms right in line with the delivery from the original song! Good stuff and if you're medically trained (especially the docs out there) this was easy to follow. From the bounce back rolling right past me line to the lasix pee being supersonic this was a smash. From one doc to another...keep the videos and the laughs coming!

Hahahahaha, this totally reminds me of my overnight calls as a senior resident at the VA, being by myself, two interns and almost no specialty support handling all the crazy night calls, ER admissions and codes....the overwhelming stress at times, but looking back now as an attending they were great learning opportunities and fun times for sure. Thank God for the nurses and the rest of the staff for getting me through the crazy nights. ZDOggMD thanks for an awesome and true video of Internal Medicine!!!

Loved the video! As a nurse, a good day in IP medicine is patients with bed alarms using the call bell, no falls, no total feeds, polite and compliant patients, no wanderers, no isolation, all patients having code status orders in place, and all patients having PRN orders for pain and nausea. Hasn't happened yet, but it would be so nice!

Even though the medical toys have changed since my clinical days, it is still same patients running through the ER. Love the parodies. Glad I finally found you.!

Walk into the ER, no admit holds, no mental health holds, level 3's and 4's all around, the EMT prior shift overstocked everything, no isolation's, no transfers leaving or coming in, empty lobby and food in the staff fridge. But that day hasn't came yet........

I remember a few days like that - in the distant past. One of the great things about being a hospice doc is that call is via the phone and computer, because I've got great nurses with the patients in their homes. A good day is a scattering of simple questions and med adjustments, and perhaps a good death with family all around. (I admit my perspective is a bit warped!)

I think it's more like, why do we wear clothes period. Nudist colonies seem to be doing just fine. It wouldn't be weird if they were more common. Probably, the patients are having some sort of sensory overload (like an autistic person, except temporary and set off by emotional triggers) that makes the cloth rubbing sensation thats normally filtered out by the brain all day, intolerable. Or, they associate being 'wide open' mentally with needing to be 'free' of any and all physical restriction, as with literary analysis of the symbolic and subconscious meaning of nakedness. Wow I didn't mean that to turn into an essay, but there ya go...

A good day is when all wound clinic patients show up for their appointments on time and without having tried any home remedies that their cousin's boyfriend's sister recommended, since that somehow carries more weight than the interdisciplinary treatment constructed by the MDs (infectious disease, podiatry, general surgery and, of course, PCP a.k.a "gatekeeper to all that is to be deemed worthy by the HMO"), NP, RN, diabetes educator, pharmacist and case manager that is available, affordable and still clinically effective.
