Hip-Hop doesn't get enough credit for what rappers have been able to do with the English language with word structuring and patterns in order to tell a story. Genius

@@user-mm7hy6je8g If I could expound, in African American culture there was always a tradition in our community of creating and recreating language that found expression in wider popular American culture. From spirituals to slang like cool , hip, swag, lit, etc. there has always been an evolution of common language informed and popularized from the black experience since our ancestors were brought here. It predates Hip-Hop but I think we all have come to know that.

This is my second favorite breakdown, after Grandmaster breaking down the break beat. They was doing triplet flows yeaaars before Lord Infamous. I’m mad ol boy asked if Originators was a group lol. The Hard Pack was the group.. Jay, Jaz and Source. Their first single is, “I Can’t Get With That” where Jay compared their style of flow to the sound of a Money Machine. Clever shxt.
