Jean Redpath masterfully sings a jacobite song from the first Jacobite Rising, 1689, commemorated last year at Killiecrankie where the battle was.

Do you ever wish that you could transport back in time? This is the time I would go back to just to stand beside this great man during his battles with the Covenanters and at Killiecrankie. I know these times were brutal and the Covenanters hated him with a passion but they were equally brutal and equally despised. I am after all just an old Jacobite.

I love this song & I have always believed in the Stuart cause & that they are still around in the form of the Wittelsbach royal dynasty in Bavaria descended from King Charles, they are really are a great Royal family.

Wow Rossella, this is just about amazing! It reminds me of my own passionate emotion in going on the spot and making my own researches (wow, those pics of Blair Atholl and Killiecrankie are great!) and of all the emotions and deep feelings entwined within such moments... this video is breathtaking, thank you so much!

Thank you. I have been attending many times, not at the march (too hard for me) but at the moving ceremony in the little church. Hopefully I'll be this year too.

A beautifully sung song Rossella. Anyone one watching this can be part of the history by joining us on Saturday the 27-07-13 at 11.30 Old Blair car park behind the castle for the Killiecrankie Memorial Walk which has been an event now for many years.

It was a' for our Rightful King It was a' for our rightful king That we left fair Scotland's strand; It was a' for our rightful king We e'er saw Irish land, My dear, We e'er saw Irish land. Now a' is done that men can do, And a' is done in vain! My love, and native land, fareweel! For I maun cross the main, My dear, For I maun cross the main. He turn'd him right and round about, Upon the Irish shore, He gave his bridle-reins a shake, With, Adieu for evermore, My dear! And adieu for evermore! The soldier frae the war returns, And the merchant frae the main. But I hae parted frae my love, Never to meet again, My dear, Never to meet again. When day is gone and night is come, And a' folk bound to sleep, I think on him that's far awa The lee-lang night, and weep, My dear, The lee-lang night, and weep. ROBERT BURNS

@johnnytheglesgabhoy Thank you for expressing so well the song's spirit. Och aye, the dream is to stay beside Dundee that memorable evening... See what an old jacobite I am myself :-)

If a Stuart takes the Crown, he or she must be generous to the Windsors and give them vast estates to retire too. After all, the old Queen has been a very nice lady! Stuart ascendancy shall be very sophisticated and polite!
