An innocent man doesn't try to hide the weapon he used to defend himself. An innocent man doesn't make up stories about the attackers having weapons they didn't have. Does this man deserve a first-degree murder conviction? Maybe not, but he deserves at least 10 years behind bars.

You have no idea how an innocent man acts. First of all, he’s not “innocent”. He pulled a knife and cut people who attacked him, so it’s not like nothing happened. But why would he not be afraid of what would happen to him next, even acting in self defense? There’s no easy or predictable response yet people like you are so sure of your own condemnation of someone in a situation you’ve never faced. That’s reason enough to fear. Innocent people lie all the time, and innocent people who are not looking for a fight end up in fights all the time too. Fact is NONE of this would have happened if "Video Boy" had not decided it would be fun to humiliate the old guy and put him in real danger by alerting other groups of a "raper". NM could have gotten shot, drowned, or beaten up by a mob over a lie and the guy filming was watching it all happen LAUGHING. But sure they all drew the line at a drunk woman getting shoved BACK. If he had had a heart attack instead of a knife these kids would 100% be in jail. No one here was innocent at the end, but there was someone who started it all and it was not the old guy. You also acknowledge the lies they were screaming could result in him being killed, adding to his reasonableness to believe his life was in danger. They were drunk and obnoxious but he grabbed their inner tubes and one of their legs (therefore he made first physical contact) and tried to overturn one of their inner tubes. That caused the group of drunks to stand. NEVER APPROACH A DRUNK GROUP OF PEOPLE OF ANY AGE, unless you are looking for trouble, because that’s ALL you will find. Always walk away from a group of drunk people. Then he, by his own admission punched Maddie (second time HE made physical contact) and one of his witnesses testified that they saw him hit her. It would not have happened if the girls had not gotten in his face and put hands on him, or if the 20 year old hadn't punched him in the face... Fact.. they attacked a man who had a way to defend himself. Who would be on trial if he had died from a heart attack and no one had been stabbed ?
