I've never heard of a challenger getting beat so badly that automatically gets a rematch with the champion. Its bizarre and it is exactly what is wrong with boxing today. Let's call a spade a spade. Dubrois was given the IBF belt because they thought (Joshua's team) he would walk through Dubrois and they could parade AJ as this amazing '3 time world champion coming back from the ashes', when anyone with half a brain knows he hasn't beat anyone of note in his 'come back' fights who actually wanted to win. Its all been orchestrated so that he and Fury could fight later, but its backfired and now they are trying the same old stunt advocating for a Joshua rematch with Dubrois. Its actually embarrassing.

I am an AJ fan and to be fair, I like your comment. It was an ass wooping (sadly for aj supporters) but an exciting one for all the fans, even if you do not like AJ, you can still enjoy a good dust up between two hard hitting heavy weights, and you get another chance to see him get sparked out if you hate him that much. I totally agree with Carl on this. Taking a rematch right away against Dubois would be a huge mistake. The main reason is Aj in the first meeting showed NOTHING that he could use to beat DD with. And a lot of it goes back to his days with Rob. Aj has never been good going backwards, so he struggled badly with being backed up against DD. He also has always left himself wide open to counters, so when fighting a younger hungrier big lad who can bang that's a major no no. And his head stays mostly static, and against a guy that hits like DD that again is another major no no. Sure DD is not the perfect heavyweight either, but what he does have is more than enough to take apart Aj's major flaws. So unless Aj miraculously sorts out his long career flaws will see the same result, he'll lose.

I think Joshua would be taking the rematch on ego alone if he does take it. It’s not the most lucrative fight for him, it’s also not a fight where he would be the favourite. Hopefully Hearn and Joshua aren’t thinking of this like a Ruiz rematch; this is a very different task against a much more serious fighter who will only get better. He should wait and see if Fury beats Usyk, or he should move onto fighting Wilder or Bakole. Outside of those two names he doesn’t really deserve a shot at any of the other names.

What do you think to Dubois v Bakole Carl? For me Martin Bakole is the fighter in the heavyweights that everyone is swerving and I'd like to think that Bakole would get his shot at a world title under the Riyad season. He demolished Jared Anderson who was supposed to be the USA next world heavyweight champion. I think Dubois v Bakole is a great fight they're both big punchers, they both have really good chins, they both have good stamina they are similar sizes and I think Bakole should get a chance to become Africa's first ever Heavyweight Champion of the world. It could be another historic moment for boxing and I think it's a pretty even fight maybe Dubois slight favourite. What's everyone else's thoughts on this fight?

Ruiz threw away the title by gaining 60,lbs and not training or the 2nd fight, AJ was clever and ran away every single round but landed the few jabs that scored points to win a decision, there's no way he can repeat that against Dubois who will finish AJs career and possibly cause even more long term damage to AJs health.

@@Phuc_Yhou 60 pounds? LOL He weighed 268 for AJ 1 and 283 for AJ 2. A 260 pound man can easily fluctuate 5 pounds of weight day to day. So in reality he gained like 10 pounds between the fights of which the muscle/fat ratio is unknown. Who has Ruiz KO before his TKO of Joshua or who has he KO’d since? He just got lucky that one night. He hasn’t been able to knock out anyone after Joshua which is evidence it was a fluke. Aside from Joshua he has only one other KO in last 9 years.

You could legit word for word find guys saying what you just said about Joshua but they said it about Dubois. Meanwhile couple years later he is beating Joshua. Whats the point? I have been following boxing for 40 years i have watched everyone of carl froch fights he is 100% a world champion (legitimate) Wlad was 41 years old carl apart from parker with help from the ref the ex former world champions were past their best. He has been spoon fed opponent's he has never been a legitimate world champion. Anthony and his team wouldn't go near wilder back in the days when wilder was at his best he wasn't a good boxer but he would have knocked Anthony Joshua spark out.

I got no issue with the rematch because I'm of the opinion Dubois was slowing down by round 5 and the fight was opening back up for Anthony Joshua. And trust me, I do not like Anthony Joshua in the least, so to even say that carries with it a bitterness for me. I can't see Dubois catching him out again so early either if they rematch, because Anthony Joshua will know what expect. Of course if Dubois spanks him again it's settled. But I have a feeling we may get a different result in the rematch, and it'll end up a trilogy.
