Nice guitar sound Gary. It encourages me to change the strings on my 12 string acoustic. I also like the technique you showed on the rolling picking on the TTT video. Thanks I'm on my way!

If you can record these parts and put em all together. The magic of that day in 65 will happen.

If you listen the The Byrd's recording, the last bit (where it slides between E and D) slides up to a G NATURAL... which also means that the last chord of the intro is in fact an Em. Listen again.

The lead intro is done with double stops on the 4th and 5th strings (7th and 8th, and 9th and 10th strings). Try it, you'll like it!

Hi Gary, great lesson. Your Rick sounds amazing. I believe you also have a Gretsch 5422G-12 ( I have one). Any comparison between the two?

Tim nothing sounds quite like a Ric. The Gretsch is a really nice sounding guitar. It also a has a wider neck. They both sound different. Thank You.

Thanks Gary, I also noticed on my guitar that the thinner strings ( for lack of a better term) sit abut lower than the standard strings .

Fantastic job, as usual. However, I hear things a little differently than you, at least when listening to the original version at kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5S5mY1nf6yMeck. I'll have to wait to hear your final version to be sure. Two things now though: 1) I don't hear a hammer-on in the intro, at least not in all the parts in the three sections. 2) In the final pattern, I hear the guitar going up up to a G, rather down to an open D, which is what you do. I'm not 100% sure about this, so I plan on putting the audio in Audacity and slowing it down to try to hear exactly what's going on.
Feel a whole lot better/ lesson
