I actually did see one for $2,000, but it had black hardware on it. The black tailpiece is basically hardened plastic. It will eventually break. Rick doesn't make it anymore due to all the complaints of them breaking.

Yours is good. It was like 1998 to whenever they stopped making them. They went cheap. It looked like metal and felt like metal, but when it broke, you could see it was basically hardened plastic.

Wow, you play those Byrd's songs as good the original recordings. I'm a big fan of the Byrd's to this day. I have a 12string Rick360c63 and play Byrd's tunes all the time. Even got the bass guitar worked for many of their songs. You could start a Byrd's tribute band and take it on the road with that act. Even got the Ben Franklin glasses. You're killin me!!!

Right on...thanks. I'll work on more. I just need to lay down some more backing tracks. Michael Clarke does interesting beats in many songs. And Chris Hillman seems to play the higher octaves on the bass in their early stuff. So learning their parts doesn't come natural.

More excellent Byrd-mania unleashed! :-D Hi, Dave . . . you must've posted this after I signed-off yesterday. Sounding really good, as always. By the way, which pickup do you use, normall, for the Byrds stuff? I know this is a 3-*Seventy*, which has the center pickup, and wondered if maybe that was the one you used. I've only had my hands on a Ric Twelve once or twice, and the last time was several years ago. Keep up the great work, and "may you soon meet-up with a vocal double for Gene Clark"!

I have a RIC from the early 90's with the black "R" tail piece. It's made of metal. Did they make them out of plastic on newer models or something?
@Byrds196712 жыл бұрын
It's a "supply and demand" issue that keeps the RIC price high. They are a small company that ONLY produce guitars in SoCal. They might make 100 hand made guitars per month where Fender and Gibson have sold rights overseas to make 10,000's per month on assembly lines.

wow I wasn't watching the video all I did was hear it and I thought you were playing just the guitar part. But then I realized it was you singing, you sound just like Roger McGuinn. I have some questions, did McGuinn mainly use 360/12s or 370/12s?? Where did you get those awesome McGuinn glasses?? Also wondering if you could write out some tab considering I can't find any decent Byrds tabs and it would be much appreciated. Thank you
@Byrds196716 жыл бұрын
Hey, saying that my Byrds rendition is as good at Tom Petty's is a heck of a complement. Thank you. You have a great sound too. I like the Deja Vu song. You have a good voice for doing Fogerty, Neil Young, and the like.
@Byrds196712 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, the 9v battery is a pain. It's a nightmare to replace. I guess there was an option to order a RM model without the built in compressor back in the 80's. That would have been the way to go.

I'm not using a pedal. There's a built in compressor on the Roger McGuinn Rickenbacker.
@sebalberico7 жыл бұрын
ah!! thanks a lot! I didn't know that the RM model has a built in compressor. So I assume you can activate and deactivate as you wish, isn't it? how do you do that? (I can't see another switch aside of the pickups one)

Hey Byrds1967 this is a really groovy, cover, I like it a lot. Can I please ask where did you get your glasses or, if you know what their brand is, and/or style number or name? sometimes this info can be found on the arms, or case, if you have the original prottective case. I have wanted these frames for ages (along with a few other 60s styles that I cant find either)! I'm a young lady, but have since a child always been very much into the beatnick/mod/hippy and 60s-70s styles. I had a great replica square frame style untill my 'friend' broke them. I hope you can help.

What is your background made up of? I have a mcguinn 370/12 and play the same songs Evan with the same Byrds pullover and trying to get the background like you have. I also have. Voice live 3 that creates harmonies. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Great job on the banjo rolls!
@Byrds19679 жыл бұрын
Cindy Barnes Hey Cindy, Right on with owning a 370/12RM. As far as the background tracks, I created my own tracks for all the Byrds videos I posted. I just had to learn to play a little bit of everything. I'm not sure of where one can get pre-made tracks of Byrds tunes, most of their stuff is considered pretty obscure.
@assfuckedbyelephant11 жыл бұрын
Do you guess around or do you really listen to the recording note by note?
@MR94RB412 жыл бұрын
Yes, he sold it. No, not because of the neck problem. It never stayed in tune at all. Also, It ran off of 9V batteries and used them up in 4 or 5 days. However, he does still own a 360/12.

I watch Ebay like a hawk. The last one i saw was going for $7,000. I ain't got that much. And i didn't have a throw down fund either.
@Byrds196712 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's in that same general location. But a person wouldn't be able to remove the output jacks because they would be attached by wires. First you take off the upper pick guard, then the lower pickguard (with the knobs). It was buried in the back of all that mess.
@MR94RB412 жыл бұрын
Ah, I see. Other than that (plus the tuning issues he complained about), it's a great sounding guitar.
