Everything Yuji has gone through so far: the death of a family member, an irreversible change to his life, being set up for execution, the loss of a friend, confronting the very real possibility of death and experiencing abject terror because of it, ACTUALLY DYING, being forced into committing murder, watching people’s bodies become twisted and warped until their death, watching said people being treated like toys and tools, being berated and made a fool out of by genuinely evil beings for trying to save a life, learning his teacher has been sealed away, having his body used for mass-slaughter, watching one of his teachers *explode,* and the cherry on top of this anguish-laden sundae: *Watching one of his best friends die in front of him, when there was nothing he could do about it.* All of this has been over the course of *_three months._* *Yuji has experienced more trauma in **_three months_** than most people experience in their entire lives.* This poor boy needs a break. I would say he needs a therapist too, but there is not a single therapist on this earth qualified enough to handle this kind of baggage.

Basically, it represents Yuji's suffering and the mocking and "bullying" he's receiving from the villains (and certain events, you know). The scene where he's having a breakdown is a popular meme because the music is the one that makes you wanna dance and sing, plus, the lyrics are clearly the opposite of what Yuji's actually feeling (for example, these lyrics from the song: "Could you mess these up more? Devour evеrything heartily. A lifetime of wandеring in a maze Rendezvous, dizziness "You are my special"). Read the full lyrics of SPECIALZ in English and you'll realize what I mean
