I heard that the story is bad. Which, when I think about it, what really is Jujutsu's Kaisen's story? Aside from fighting, what pulls people in? What's the overarching narrative element that defines this series?

@@morningivy From what I've read, it is a shonen that has been thematically hijacked by the villains. It's the author's attempt to tell a kind of "meta-shonen" where the villains embody the themes. For example, a big theme in JJK is why selfishness is a GOOD thing and selflessness can only harm the people around you since damaging or allowing yourself to be treated worse will only harm yourself and culminate in other people getting hurt of you fail. Sukuna embodies hedonism and is constantly vindicate by the story for being "right". Whether or not you agree with the theme is your choice and imo Gege doesn't always deliver on this theme (story is hyper rushed), but the fights are good and some of the character work is pretty interesting. Not a masterpiece by any means but nice in it's on way.

I wouldn’t call it mid but it’s good enough for me to consider watching s2.
