I did a review of iTailor custom made to measure suits back in September 2022. I did not like that suit as shown in the review. But several of you asked me to do another review of their suits, so here it is.

I just came across your vids and I especially appreciated your take on Suit Supply. I was contemplating getting a suit from them for my son’s wedding as he got his suit there. He’s 6’1” 180 lbs and his suit looked spectacular. I’m 5’8” and 170 so they were not for me. However, this comment is not for Suit Supply. As a guy who was once was 265 lbs I can relate to your fit issues. One day I looked in the mirror and decided enough was enough. I decided to do something about my weight. Long story short I lost 100 lbs. Not easy but I did it. I now can shop for a suit anywhere and it’ll fit almost perfectly. My advice to you is if you want a well fitting suit lose that excess weight you’re carrying around. Not only will the suits look better but you’ll add years to your life.

This is why you always research and double check before going through with a purchase. I had a very wise and beautifully dressed friend tell me that I should check it out and order from them. I was very close, twice, but didnt pull the trigger despite wanting to, and it was because I was suspicious of this. I will be taking my money to an in person tailor for sure now.

I agree. I’m not sure how they can tell you to go to a tailor to have to fixed when the paints and jacket need major work. I was going to order a few suits and 4-5 shirts. But I can’t find on the website still how they handle remaking the suits if they don’t fit. I don’t have time to play games. They had great prices for 100 percent wool suits but if they don’t fit what is the point. It’s a shame but that’s what we get when the customer service people really don’t care or owners don’t care. FYI did you measure the suit to see if it was different then the measurements you sent them? If it was different then just do a chargeback on your credit card and you will get your money back. I don’t feel bad doing a charge back for companies that are miss advertising their products. But that’s why I said measure the suit to see if it matches the measurements you sent in. It’s time that we hold these companies accountable.

Firstly, let me state that I have ordered 8 to 9 dress shirts from iTailor and absolutely LOVE them...and I'll buy more in the future, as they are my "go-to" for dress shirts; the fit is almost perfect, and I couldn't be happier. That said, I'll probably never order another suit from iTailor, again. I ordered a suit, but the first one had to be returned as the fit was NOT good (although I used the same measurements I did with Hockerty and MySuitTailor - both with very good results). iTailor didn't own up to the poor-fitting suit, and I paid 50% for the new (2nd) suit. I had a very similar experience as The Dad Bod: VERY low and tight seat; and the armholes are low, so the suit felt boxy and not very flattering. This was the case with the first suit, and the 2nd suit, although MUCH better, still doesn’t “feel” right (tight in the seat, low armholes, etc)... …I own several suits, FYI…I am not a novice and have a good sense of fashion and fit. I’m 6’1” 185 lbs, slim-athletic build…so the comment below about being slimmer doesn't hold, at least not in my case. Again, I LOVE the shirts I received from iTailor… …but will NOT buy another suit (I cannot trust them to make a well-fitting suit and/or take responsibility if they make a mistake). Thanks for the video, Dad Bod.

Sucks that you had to go through that as well. I like the shirt. They did a great job with that. But suits… I’ve had three bad ones. I’m glad to hear some have had good experiences but the odds are not all that good.

This has been a common experience with many online m2m companies for me: decent, if not great shirts, disappointingly lacking suits/pants/coats. Even when inquiring about "special needs" in advance, like a high rise cut for trousers, lowered buttoning point etc..

I just received a sport coat and shirt from itailor and I couldn’t be happier. The coat needed to be pressed, but other than that, it was a great experience and value. My brother also ordered a suit from them and was also very happy with it. We are both on the thinner side, so maybe that makes a difference? I don’t know, but I don’t think your experience is typical 🤷‍♂️
@KomradeKrusher
@KomradeKrusher 9 ай бұрын
That is the thing, though: with a "slim" physique, you and your brother will probably have no issue looking decent, if not great, in any contemporary off the rack fit. The big selling point of made to measure is a "perfect fit" even for those who's bodies aren't "perfect" (by fashion industry standards). What use is a company offering "custom" suits if they cannot provide for the body types that actually *need`* custom made suits?

Initially, I liked iTailor. But then I tried their jeans. What a nightmare. They already had my measurements and sent me custom jeans that were too short. Shorter than the other jeans that I already had. They made me send pictures to prove that the jeans were too short. I've also ordered shirts and they were OK, not spectacular. But after the jeans incident, I haven't ordered from them since. After watching your video, I can see why their struggling.

Hi chief....I had a friend similar body type as yours sir...this is what he told me about itailor 1. Measure the shoulder. Match that size with their ready size. Eg 18" that's a size 48 (EU). 2. Screen shot the ready size and adjust from there. 3. Add 3" to your true size chest For jacket For trousers he told me that itailor doesn't do high rise (preferred if person has bigger stomach) 1. From the belly button. Measure 0.5" below it and that would be the waist line. 2. Add 2-3" to the crotch measurement. That way you can pull up the trousers to sit high waist He did that it came out 90% perfect fitting. He also warned me that any mtm sites that has ready measurement has to match the length of your shoulder to their ready size. Brands like spier, suitsupply, itailor all have ready size. The problem is their factory has those as patterns. Your measurement is adjusted on that. Hope this helps

Yeah I had some decent shirts from them when they were new, good shirts. Also had good shoes from them. That where it ends though, suit was wrong size pant size completely using measurements I know to be right. I gave them another go last year for something a little different I needed and the fabric quality was dreadful. Flashy site, bad clothes, bad service.

I'm thinking about going with a standard size and then having a tailor adjust to fit me. Sure, it defeats the purpose of having a made to measure suit, but i look at it as having a "custom designed" suit, and then having a tailor work their magic in person to work with all the nuances of my body

I have a linen suite from them and it is OK but not great. My suite could be a little bit roomier. I think the main issue with them is that they don't have a great algorithm for there pattern and they mainly have smaller framed people. In my case the buttoning point was about two inches above from where I would like it to be and as well the rise of the pants was rather on the low side. (As for the rise, I had an Indochino suit and there the rise was a bit to high for my taste so I adjusted my measurements. I think they generally go with a lower rise but you can adjust for it in the order). I think if you are below 6 feet (180cm) and below 200lbs (90Kg) you can give them a try but for taller bigger people this seems to not work. The shirts I had from them are great though

It felt like the arms were too far forward and twisted. It was fine with my arms flat at my side but I couldn’t move them at all without it pulling. I know you’re not supposed to be able to lift your arms up that high but I couldn’t move them at all.

I saw these videos, and ordered from iTailor, anyway. My results were much better than this guy’s. I’m a pretty big guy, and it’s hard for me to find anything off the rack that looks good without a lot of alteration. So,I did a lot of research, made a lot measurements, made those measurements again, and then made them again. When I ordered the suit, I specifically requested certain things, advised them on the fit that I was wanting, and basically communicated my wishes as clearly and as concisely as possible. I got the suit this past Thursday. And let me tell you… I am incredibly happy with the results! What impresses me is all the little details, from the way they make the pockets, to the way they do the cuffs on the pants, to the way they make The jacket. I showed it to the seamstress that routinely does my alterations, (and who was doubtful that I was going to get something truly made to measure) and she was amazed and thrilled that they made a suit so nice. I showed it to my boss, who has been very curious about finding a source for a tailored suit , and he was impressed as well, and I think he’s going to be their next customer. I guess it’s all about communication and attitude going forward. And getting your measurements right and knowing what you’re supposed to be measuring. Going into this thing, I, too, was concerned about the crotch and the rise of the pants, because I don’t like the new modern fit, I like the waistband at the navel, not below it. That is where the proper measurement comes in. They specifically ask for the outseam in their measurements, not the inseam. That, plus the crotch measurement, if done properly, will result in the rise that you want. Give them the inseam as well in your email to them. Give them as much specifics as you can in your email communication with them, and they will follow those specs. Definitely going to order from them again, as a matter of fact, I have an order in place right now. I’m gonna try their shirts next.

I did give them my proper measurements. Oliver wicks was able to make a proper fitting suit with those measurements. So was hockerty, woodies, sene, mysuittailor. The measurements were verified when I went into supply to get measured for their suits. So, I don’t think that’s the problem.

What made to measure company have you used that got your suit absolutely correct on the first time without a final fitting? Oliver wicks? Do you have a brand or a company that was able to get everything done on one try with correct front to back rise ratios, high armholes, proper waistcoat length and room for your waist, proper thigh and calf leg opening, no collar gap from jacket to shoulder and chest? I'm looking for a brand that I can trust to get it right the first time for a affordable price
@TheDadBod
@TheDadBod 7 ай бұрын
I don’t think any company can have it perfect the first time, every time. Oliver wicks is great. I would bet that if I gave them the proper measurements the first time, it would have been perfect the first time. My measurements were off. It was my first time taking them. But everything from them since has been spot on. My suit tailor has been very reliable as well.

I just have a hard time fathoming how one gets comfortable ordering a suit online, sight unseen and self measured. If there is a single item of clothing where fit is critical, it’s the suit. Go see a professional for their advice and fitting skills. Otherwise, find a nice off the rack suit and have a local tailor tweak it as needed.

I gotta say ... this sounds like you didn't measure properly. I have gone through over 40 iTailor suits and only the first one did not fit me. You can't blindly resubmit the same measurements over and over and expect a different result. With iTailor, you should consider your first suit a sacrificial suit. For $199, get the fabric of the week, and then make changes based upon what does not fit you based upon how that fit. My first suit was 90% right. Every suit after that was 100% because I altered my requests to their process, not expecting them to change what they were doing. Now I personally would recommend ordering the jacket and trousers separately, so that you can order a ready-made size of trousers, as those are far harder to measure and the ready made sizes work quite well. You can order standard size trousers and a full-measurement jacket separately.
@TheDadBod

Signature standard fit.
@TraveltheRedRoad
@TraveltheRedRoad Жыл бұрын
@@TheDadBod I think that could be the source of your frustration. The standard fit is that horrid baggy American style fit, they take your measurements and add X amount of inches to key areas of the suit. This is true of all suits but I think most manufacturers have moved away from the standard model and have adopted the “European” fit as the new standard. Of course they still add a certain amount inches to each measurement but in the case of the European fit it’s typically much less, resulting in a much neater fit. If they offer you the opportunity of a free suit again I’d take them up on it, keep your measurements the same but ask for the European fit.
