You could put 4 thin styrene blocks on the inside corner of one tank half, this is so that when the other half is closed over it cannot slide off. You can use very small self taper screws through the tank half that does not have the blocks glued onto it, and have the screws screw into the blocks sticking into the other tank half securing the two halves together. You could also just use two small black elastic bands.
@18robsmith4 жыл бұрын
Use a couple of VERY narrow cable ties to hold the tank together - if you use them inside out you'll be able to hold the tank closed but still be able to open it to do things with the battery. Such ties are available in black or "natural" (white) so might work out of the bag........

Jaffa cakes and Coffee at the bench is Correct! and the LAW..Cracking job Kev and brush painted too? Yep as mentioned i would use rare earth magnets for the tank, and i would use Resin to hold them in, as ive found in the past that super glue could give way after a while. Keep up the great work Kev

You're right, it is looking sweet. And your brush painting skills are superb. I have a similar Volvo kit on the shelf, maybe this series will help me. I'm working on a Scania R500 right now and struggling - no part seems to be a good fit.😟

I think magnets around the join might be a good idea, not sure how you could make it stick to the chassis though, unless magnets, or maybe a piece of plastic, or metal under the chassis frame to the underneath of the battery box/fuel tank just for extra rigidity. maybe if you have got a broken keyboard or something that you are throwing away break it apart and use some of the keyboard casing for the support. or 3d print something if you got a 3d printer. the truck is looking great though, didn't think the cab interior would be just 1 episode, thought it would be split into at least 2, just to get to the point at the end of this video.

@johnbradley46714 жыл бұрын
Magnet Expert do some small 1mm dia x 1mm thick that I think would help with the fuel tank/battery compartment Kev they are very small so would need to use tweezers to fit them in. As you have a vice drill it should be easy to make the hole in each corner of the tank for them.

I have not read all the comments below so not sure if this was asked already, but how are you planning to close the fuel tank? That is I am wondering about having the ability to open the fuel tank to replace the battery when needed. Surely you dont want to have to break the glue each time. But great to see another video on this had missed them. Love all your Vlogs, both trucking and model building. Keep em coming, lad.
