I am an Ethiopian with an Italian Great grandfather. He came to Ethiopia in 1930's got married, started a family and gave birth to my grandmother in 1938. Since she is the first relative and was born before 1948, as a 3rd generation can I be eligible for Italian citizenship.

Your grandmother inherited the citzenship right from your Great Grandfather (paternal line). If the sons of your grandmother were born after 1948, you're eligible. If they were born before, you're not eligible by the administrative way, but can be eligible by lawsuit.

My mother both grand parents were born in Italy in 1900, and got married in Italy, and moved abroad in 1920. My mother was born abroad in 1947. She told me that she does not have right of due citizenship because in 1947 did not exist in Italy a law that allowed due citizenship. This law was approved after she was born. Is this correct? Her mother was born abroad in South America in 1926 from both Italian married parents. Thank you for your help : ). Ciao, J

Hi! Both sides of my great grandmothers naturalized automatically through marriage before 1922. So in a 1948 petition in court, is it more convincing (ie: twice as strong) to a judge to see that the citizenship by descent exits - because both great grandmothers passed citizenship down to respective sides of applicant's grandparents, which then passed their citizenship down to applicant's parent - to applicant? So, in theory, are two heads better than one?

Hello! We actually do have one on the Elective Residence Visa! Please be aware of one thing... The Visa Type will not be linked to your Tax Option and vice-versa. So you can enter Italy with an Elective Residence Visa and still use another Tax model/benefit. The 7% Tax regime will be the topic of a future video, so please keep it up!

Dear guest, Italian Citizenship is transmitted generation by generation and, in this case, considering the information provided, it's important to observe if the holder of Italian ascendency in the lineage (the parent of the child born out of the wedlock, descendent of the Italian-born citizen) has recognized the child as being his/her son/daughter by a public document respecting Italian standards.
