Wait. Here in Italy it is illegal to serve alcohol to minors (under 18 yo) too. If there is an adult who can guarantee for the minor, MAYBE you could. But there's no way that a (HONEST) bartender could give alcohol to a 15 yo. If a bartender sells or gives alcohol to a kid under 16 years, he and the owner of the bar can be arrested, if the kid is > 16 but < 18 they can be fined.
@aktdoa2 жыл бұрын
where i'm staying at, i've been to several bars with people younger than 18 (but no younger than 16) and we've never once been asked for IDs or anything, the bartender served us w/out question 😬 sometimes their parents were there, but even then they never were like "are you the parent?" sooo maybe we just go to chill bars?

@@bepinkfloyd814 You never got asked because a LOT of bar owners are criminals who only want to make money. But it's illegal and those bar owners or barpeople should be at least fined. And if you got into the hospital for that, they should be arrested.

As an Italian I always feel at home when I go to Spain and I always find myself at ease with Spanish people I think we share the same general way of thinking and looking at things. In my experience Italy and Spain are really brother countries, I think I could live in Spain with little to no adaptation issues :)

@@gabrielesantucci6189 um... I lived there for 3 months and they 100% do drink a lot. I was a 15 yr old student exchange kid there and a lot of my Italian friends would just go out and order drinks because they dont really ID or care that much haha. I honestly thought the drinking culture was much better than in Australia because in Australia kids only drink to get drunk and they drink to the point of throwing up and having terrible hang overs the next day. In Italy people still get drunk however they have more of an appreciation for what they are drinking. anyways that was just my obervations

@@bekind9827 The minor under 18 who buys the beer in Italy is not punished, but the shopkeeper who sells it to him is. Since 2017, administrative fines range from a minimum of 250 euros to a maximum of one thousand. Figures that increase further if a repeated violation is found, going in this case from a minimum of 500 to 2 thousand euros and up to the suspension of the activity for three months. Criminal sanctions remained unchanged. Your observation maybe are referred to a place. Where I live they don't serve alcohol to kids and this rule it's very strict. Furthermore, in Italy there are no hordes of troublesome drunkards that are seen in other European countries.

It's almost akward thinking that in the USA it's illegal to drink in public, but you can get a gun in public and shot anyone you want. Weird society.
@aktdoa2 жыл бұрын
well it's definitely not encouraged to go out and shoot anyone you want, but I see your point. the US does seem lightyears behind other countries with some of their laws...like why can I get my drivers license at 16, but i can't vote till i'm 18, or drink till i'm 21?? why not just make it 18 for everything
@giorgiodifrancesco45903 ай бұрын
In Italy you can drink in public only if the Municipalities allow it. In those where there are no problems with drunkenness, because people normally don't drink a lot, but only drink in company, while eating, to socialize, it is allowed. Where the number of drunkards is high, however, there is a tendency to ban it. Let's say that the way Italians drink is generally very different. When we go to the seaside, for example, we don't turn into crowds of annoying drunkards, while other peoples do it, in their youth, almost as if it were an initiatory journey.

living with parents while being an adult many times is a necessity, many of those guys don't have a stable job/enough money to afford and maintain a house, or they can't afford nurses for parents... I'm pretty sure that if anybody could do what they want they'll go out of home sooner
@aktdoa2 жыл бұрын
completely understandable :) in my experience in the USA, everyone wants to get out of their parents' house ASAP when they're teens cus they want to be on their own! But, of course like you said, that's not the case for everyone.

I'm italian and I taste a very little sip of beer when was 9 or 10 years old. My father give it to me. And since I was very young, my parents and my family told me how to drink: if you drink beer, don't drink wine.. If you wanna change your drink you have to choose something with more alcohol of your previous drink. in this way it's rare to waste

Italy doesn't have a minimum wage, btw. There's been talks about implementing one, but up until... not that long ago, it was more because it wasn't necessary - unions in Italy have been less devastated than they have in the US. That said... we're starting to face a lot of the same issues.
@aktdoa2 жыл бұрын
thank you for that! I've had minimal interaction with the workforce in Italy, so I wasn't 100% sure what the minimum wage actually was here, but now i know there isn't one at all 😅

The thing about allowing kids to drink is that if kids get used to handling alcohol responsibly from a young age, it'll be less likely for them to waste alcohol getting drunk, since wine is a big deal here but not just as a cultural thing, it's one of our biggest moneymakers and it has been for centuries so it's ingrained in our culture to drink responsibly (that's not to say that people don't get absolutely wasted here too but in general it happens less).

Careful now with the hand gestures and the loud talking, that stuff rubs off on you faster than you think. I lived in Milan for three years during my bachelor and every time i saw my parents during breaks my mom would comment on my hand motions non stop. It’s especially bad when i start telling a story and i don’t even realize i’m doing it but then she’ll grab my hands and laugh and be like “calm down”. Not complaining though, i think i might like it better this way

Actually, we Italians don't drink alcohol in the morning and our kids don't drink too. We can, sometimes, very rarely, let kids taste wine, a sip, no more. On the paper, teens can only drink after they turn 18. Sometimes they drink at parties when they're 14 or 15 and get wasted but they definitely hide from parents and law. We don't really use gestures that much. The difference is that we have a few gestures that can be translated into words. We both swear with our middle fingers, tho

Really interestig video. Drinking: virtually no one in public is drunk--a few damaged souls, but that's it. They don't binge drink, get sloppy, fight. We have a serious problem with the stigma of drink, which in my opinion feeds the degative behaviour.
