My grandfather ( Patsy Anastasio) fought on this front from 1917-1918. When my mother was born (November 18,1917) in Molochio, which is in Calabria, my grandfather was refused a pass to return to his wife and child. He went AWOL, was arrested and returned to his unit. Ultimately the sergeant who refused to give my grandfather his pass was demoted. Grandpa immigrated to the USA in 1920. Seven years later my mother, her brother and my grandmother came over.

Hey i just wanted to say your academy is great and since you are making videos foe wwl, you should mention the battles in serbia there were a few but there was this manouvere where the whole serbian army and the majority of the citizens relocated to the island in greece just so it would avoid capitulation, and with the help of allies planned the liberation of serbia. It also fetures THE first batlle of the wwl in august 1916

Basically, this is what happened: Holy Roman Empire was a pathetic 'empire', and Austria, which was 'part' of it, was essentially independent. The kingdom of Hungary was split in half, half went to Austria and half to the Ottomans. The Ottomans were then kicked out, and Austria took over. Then the HLE disbanded, Austria became its own empire, and Hungarians weren't thrilled. They attempted a civil war, lost, and the resulting treaty made the Austrian-Hungarian Empire as a compromise.

Mattia Tedesco The Soča (pronounced [ˈsoːtʃa] in Slovene) or Isonzo (pronounced [iˈzontso] in Italian) (other names Friulian: Lusinç, archaic German: Sontig, Latin: Aesontius or Isontius[2]) is a 138-kilometre (86 mi) long river that flows through western Slovenia (96 kilometres or 60 miles) and northeastern Italy (43 kilometres or 27 miles)

Even though i'm quite late for saying anything about this video, I still feel like I should. I am italian, and I'm sure no italian or any person at all could argue the fact that in both WWs, Italy didn't do pretty much anything really valuable. Seeing the comment of my compatriot, I have to disagree completely. The origin of something does not make future generations of it as the first. We may be descendants of the all-mighty roman empire, but that does not mean we have all got a roman spirit inside, just as the fact that Germans now aren't nazis just because Hitler was. You know what i'm saying? I have to apologize for those incredible stupid and useless things which my compatriot said, apologize to all who he might have offended. And about that slave guy, something tells me slaves might even be better than us, you know? Just look at all the bad data about teens in Italy, and i dont think i have to say much else. I'm italian, but i have an international spirit. Goodnight everyone.
@nandopassante68889 жыл бұрын
+Pandously Fil No, any Italian with basic history knowledge can argue that in WW1 Italy was as valuable as the other main Entente Powers were. Italy kept busy a large part of the Austro-Hungarian army and later (after the Russian revolution) all of it; blocked the Austro-Hungarian surface fleet in the Adriatic Sea; rescued the Serbian Army with its ships; and finally caused the collapse of Austria-Hungary. You should apologize about the incredibly stupid and useless things you have said about Italy. The Italian who commented below was replying to the incredibly ignorant and useless things that a 13-year-old Slovene was saying about Italy. You're not an Italian with international spirit, you are the typical self-hating Italian, ignorant and filled with prejudices about his own country.

Game of Thrones basically :) marriages, battles, wars, treaties.... Actually Austo-hungarian empire was NOT a nation state, but country with mixture of different nations (Germans, Austrians, Czech, Hungarians, Slovene, Croatian,...) living together. In addition to this video, I must say that majority of soliders in this battle front (Isonzo-Soča river) was ethnic Slovenians alongside with all the others. They were defending their homeland (present day Slovenia) agains Italian occupation....

You plan to start at a certain time so all of your units attack at once, rather than having someone start early and tip off the other side that you're starting a major attack and they should reinforce. Obviously if the start time leaks you're fucked though xD.

To make it shortest as possible... At first the goal among Germans was to unify and create a Nation.Austria, Luxenburg and Lichtenstein included. But 2 States were more powerful than others. Prussia and Austria.Those 2 went to a German civil War. After Prussia won over Austria and later combined Germany over France.The German Empire proclaimed. At first they still wanted to include Austria .But Bismark desided against it.Austria had to create its own Empire and started whit Hungary and later it became a vary unstable mixed national empire. But even Today...Austria is vary much like a German puppet state.60%+ desire for some sort of re, re, reunion. Culture, Tradition, Language and so on. Much like Russia and Belarus or Serbia and Montenegro.

*rolls eyes* Another American with no idea about the first world war. And he's misinforming the world. @ 3:50 Um actually no, the Austro-Hungarians were not "reinforced by the Germans, they were reinforced by Austro-Hungarians. While the Caporetto offensive included some German artillery and stormtrooper units to help make a breakthrough, the offensive was overwhelmingly Austro-Hungarian. And that's just for starters on why this video is a joke and should be taken-down.
