I remember a scandal when Obama wanted to take his daughters to a theater show on Broadway. To accomplish that, * The Secret Service invaded the theater, interviewed the actors and staff and ordered several people to stay home the day of the President's viewing with no explanation why. * They flew two helicopters from the White House to Andrews Air Force Base. * Two Air Force Ones and a whole squadron of other planes flew to New York city. * A full motorcade drove the President and his family to the theater. * After the show, they had to do it all again to get them home. Most expensive night out EVER.

The president can never ever drive a car again even after he or she is out of office at least not on a public rd.

Everywhere the President goes, the motorcade goes. Once you become President you can never drive again.

No matter all the protection, a determined assassin can sometimes get close. And they might even get lucky to get closer. It will happen someday but we have been lucky for a long stretch now. Not all the information is available. 😁

I assume there are a lot of other sicurity protocold that are not public, and I agree with you that even if all the measures are taken there is still a chance of somebody getting too close
