I have been worried about you, so sorry you and Mr Wayna are sick. Please get tested and call your Dr. We have had COVID 3 times and each time has not been bad because the Dr put us on the medication that they are giving for covid. Praying for both of you and can't wait until you get back. 🙏🙏

My Italian mother-in-law taught me how to make this when I was a newlywed, slightly different but basically the same. I cook the pastina separately and ladle the soup over it in a bowl. It prevents the pastina from becoming overcooked when you re-heat the soup. My husband loves pastina. When my children were babies one of their first solid food was pastina mixed with Gerber's chicken or a vegetable. I still make this when anyone has a cold.......it really works!! The medical community acknowledges the benefits of homemade chicken soup.

That's how I make all my soups ... I never put my pasta or rice in it because I don't like it to get mushy... Then the next day I can just heat up my soup in a pot ... Put my noodles or rice in the bowl cold and then pour my hot soup over it and it's perfect temperature.

I love beef barley soup, cream of chicken dumplings, creamy tortellini, rustic tortellini, Italian sausage soup, Italian meatball soup, Italian wedding soup, cream of chicken wild rice, soup, pepperjack cheese soup. I’m the queen of soup. Mostly Italian as you can see. Rustic Italian is the overwhelming favorite.

Hey Rene, love making homemade chicken soup, especially pastina, My secret ingredient is some fresh grated ginger, not to much, just enough that you can taste a hint of it, it is a warming spice as we all know, but also a healing spice, Speedy recovery to the both of you.

Oh Renae…I’m so sorry you and John are so sick. I can see how sick you are. So much sickness going around already. If it is this bad with all the sunshine and good weather…what will the winter bring? My go to for when my family is sick is my home made chicken noodle soup. It is the same as your recipe but with noodles…but I never thought of pastini…thank you. And I agree with you about liking the chicken base like you used better than the other stuff. I use Mrs Miller brand from my Amish store. Take care of each other. It is so hard when you are both sick at once. This Covid is wicked stuff. Don’t get the pneumonia. My husband hasn’t had his pneumonia shots. He is 71. Had Covid in Feb this year got pneumonia and his lungs took 3-4 months to clear up. Then he got Covid again. Thank goodness I have stayed well to care for him. Prayers for your healthy return. First, covid is no joke so take care of yourselves! Next, my Italian grandmother would always add a little bit of fresh squeezed lemon to her chicken pastina, especially if it was for someone sick. She said that the juice of a quarter or half a lemon would brighten the flavor and help get rid of the mucus in your throat. It isn't enough to make it taste like lemons, just enough to brighten. I make mine that way too because of her
