The world is not on its' way to an end of no return. Not at all. We have very poor leaders who are corrupt. Once Obama is gone, Clintons are in jail and we have better leaders especially in America which leads the world economically, we'll be better off and realistically optimistic. Go well.

Matthew, I love your terminology "polishing the soul out of " that is too often the case with so many 'renovations'. They just don't know where to stop. And the final result is almost as soulless as if they had just bulldozed the site. I hope this treasure will have a better future.

Question my husband and I constantly have- why are these homes abandoned for 30 years? Did the original owners die? Is it owned by government or did your company purchase the property to resale? I mean this property shows furniture like the piano left behind. I’d love to here to background history ! Does Italian government not demand properties be kept up?
@italianproperty2 жыл бұрын
There are no regulations or requirements to maintain a privately owned home apart from ensuring the roof doesn’t fall off in an urban environment. This property has been in the same family for a very long time. I’m not sure how long, but I will ask. Thanks for your comment. Best wishes, Nick.
@Chahlie2 жыл бұрын
I have a friend whose grandmother died leaving something like a dozen properties in Italy, many of which had not been lived in for some time. The family tried to get ownership but didn't cope with the paperwork, or the officials, so there they still sit, sadly, as they are in Campobasso where I want to be! Here in Canada once the taxes were not paid for more than a year the property would be sold so it must be different in Italy.

Probably due to the Italian inheritance laws. The owner died, it was left, by law, to sisters, brothers and children, who all disagreed on what to do with it and ended up not finalising the succession, thus leaving the estate in limbo. When it comes to actually buying it, this might prove to be a long and very complicated process. Where I live in the north of Italy I'm surrounded by abandoned woodland and crumbling houses because of problems of succession. The land directly behind my house is a small parcel of 700 sq. metres of worthless ground with no access from a road, but there are 16 co-owners who were unaware that they owned it, until I told them, and none of them have completed the succession as it would cost them far, far more than the value of the land in notary's fees. So it remains abandoned.

How modern and impressive it must have been to those lucky enough be there. Soon as I saw all the levels and quirky staircases I said "Boutique Hotel". The tiered outside space made me feel whoever had this property were important to the town. It was not your average family home. Could it have been a hotel or boarding house? Was there a flood or fire at some point? I wanted to start washing walls and windows. Just beautiful. Some of those pictures and furniture should be in a museum. Need to overhaul ALL the electricity. I would hire a big cleaning crew to help remove the dust and cobwebs You could probably talk to the local priest to find out about the family.

Hi Nick, have there been any plans drawn up for renovation and are there likely to be listings or covenants? Enjoyed the chaos of a one take 👍

Hi Colin, I don't think so. I do not believe the building is listed so internally you can do what you want. However, if you want to move the kitchen, bathrooms and/or remove walls or structural modifications will need to make a planning applications. Hope this helps. Best regards, Nick.

I want this place so bad... You just know there is a vampire in the basement... And it's more than likely haunted...

You have a beautiful channel. I could never watch it. I am land locked in the US and financially have so little income it would be depressing to watch such beauty.

Very surprised you didn't say anything about the frescos (around 8:00 mark) in that room with the closet and three china cabinets. It's LOVELY. And what was that piece of wooden furniture next to the bookcase in the room with the piano?

I’ll get back to you on that. Kids day today. Best wishes, Nick.

I think its a lot older than 19th century , it may have been rebuilt on older site in 19th century, a well like that off the main piazza has to be part of original older town.

Beautiful vlog... This Tuscany house is amazing , I would imagine in the higher price range because of its square metres, as for so called future development ideas , it'll sit like that for awhile ( it certainly has enough space that a few friends should consider an investment together with plenty of private areas / alone time ) as theses times are what they are . As an Australian 🇭🇲 living in Italy 🇮🇹 so many small businesses have closed in theses small villages for now . Double glazed windows are expensive , new electric wiring ,heating and plumbing at least it has a new roof that's a great bonus. Bocca al lupo ( good luck ) I would be interested on the asking price. Stay safe and well everyone Ciao Wendy 🇭🇲.
