In this reaction video, I dive into a food and pub tour of Kraków, Poland, guided by the popular KZbin channel Honest Guide. The video showcases the best local spots to eat and drink, highlighting everything from traditional Polish dishes to the vibrant pub culture. As an Italian, I’ll be reacting to Kraków's culinary scene, with its hearty meals like pierogi and zapiekanka, alongside the craft beers and cozy pubs that the city is famous for.

7:40 basically a polish dish "gołąbki" can be translated to small pigeones. But don't have anything to do with a pigeon, ofc.

Obwarzanek is like bigger bread stick. They have on top sesame seeds or poppy seeds. And that all. Technicaly you can cut them horizontaly in half and smear with butter but it more city snack not something that you buy and take to home. XD we already have dish called Gołąbki which literally translate to small pigeons.

Obwarzanek krakowski is more pretzel-like than bagel-like. It was known in the Middle Ages. Purchases of this product are recorded in royal accounts. Bagels are also Krakow's bread. Krakow Jews started baking them at the beginning of the 17th century. Bagels were occasionally given to women after a successful delivery. Bagels came with emigrants to the USA at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Today they are a symbol of New York, not Krakow. The reason is World War II. The Jewish community disappeared from Poland, and it constituted over 10% of the country's total population. Krakow has a large legacy of regional dishes and products. I will only mention dry Krakow sausage and Krakow maczanka (marinated, baked pulled pork shoulder with rich sauce, bread roll and pickles).

In 1496, King Jan Olbrachta issued a privilege allowing only bakers from Kraków to bake and sell obwarzanki. This may have been the reason why Jewish bakers from Kazimierz invented bagels.

with the last thing he said: "czeski film" it is somewhat true and not true at the same time, both languages are similar, we can understand each other in some way, but words sounds different and as far as I know, polish sounds funny for Czechs and Slovaks and vice versa, but differences can sometimes be confusing, and Czech films and cartoons was quite popular in Poland at the end of 20th century and beginning of the 21st, I still have "Kretek" cartoons on VHS tapes :) back from 2000s - "Achio" :D, some of this cartoons are broadcasted even today in Poland like "Pat a Mat" - in Poland known as "Sąsiedzi" - "Neighbours"

The expression "czech film" (czeski film) meaning that you don't know something, that you don't understand something, comes from the fact, that after the war in the 40s and 50s a Czech comedy film called "Nobody Knows Anything" was very popular in Poland. This is where the expression comes from. If someone doesn't know something, they say "czeski film" (czech film) and everyone understands what it's about.

I for one am not fond of Krakow. The fact is what to visit, but it seems to me that exactly this city is overrated. I was there once and do not intend to return. The fact is, however, that this city has its own unique places and is worth visiting at least once. For people from abroad it is a good starting point, because it is one of the most international cities in Poland.
