Nemo used to play in youth opera and they also played in a musical as a kid before getting famous as a rapper in Switzerland as a teenager. Hope this answers your question :)

I`m from Switzerland … and when i watched and heard the song for the very first time, i was first shocked but then started watching the song again and again and again. And - to my opinion it`s a masterpiece of Eurovision Song Contest: the singing, the composition and including his own story. Wow .. we`re looking forward to celebrate ESC 2025 with the world out of Switzerland .. and already today curious about the impact his winning song has on the songs next year 😊

for the record the song means he broke the code and limit as being non binary and being proud of being what you want (which is why he wore these things and makeup to illustrate the message). As said by him "My parents gave me the name nemo which means 'noone' in latin, they believed if I was noone, I could be anyone" hope that explains a bit

it's hard for us italian to use this pronouns because in our mind when we translate, we have to change also the person in the verb and sometime the sentence. Further more it's a new thing, I think that in Italy only 0,1% of the population know what "non binary" (not "binair") means, He's not doing it for disrespect but because he doesn't know.

I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and say that I don't think it was a mean-spirited reaction, just an awkward way of expressing his surprise at seeing something he very much wasn't expecting. People who haven't been exposed to the concept of enbies often need a while to assimilate that new information and treat it as a 'normal' thing when they encounter a sight such as someone they read as male wearing a skirt.
