Vesa-Matti Loiri or "Vesku" was a legendary artist, who worked for decades, singing, acting, playing. The critics hated his role as "Uuno" but he saw that playing "serious drama" was just as important as playing "entertainment", one can put his whole self in both. I dont share all of his thoughts, but I must take my hat off for him. He did what he was made for.

Indeed keep watching these clips, he is a big and legendary comedy character, like a Finnish version of Homer Simpson. If you didn´t know in 80´s they made even a computer game about Uuno.

What usually doesn't translate that well, since it was longer "storyline" is how paradoxical it is for every woman to fall in love with the bum with missing teeth... That was one sort of a continuous joke in the series.

Usually he turns into this playboy character when there's beautiful women around, but I guess he was so much into his manager mode that it didn't happen. This one is in Finnish only, but you can see how the transformation is similar to Clark Kent-Superman thing: "Jussi Sokuri Suutelu ja vauvanteko".

The funny thing is they made total of 20 Uuno Turhapuro-movies, in your face Star Wars. A lot of them were mid tier stuff and most of the latest one's were really bad. Some say the golden 3 were Uuno in the army, Uuno is Psain (Spain) and Uuno moves to countryside

Yup, those three really are "must watch" for Finns, the rest are so drawn out, there was so much time wasted just to make the runtime. You could easily edit them to be mid tier 30-45min comedy short movies. But those three are quite packed in full, and the pacing is SO much better. A lot of them are just cringe, you feel embarrassed for the production crew.

So Uuno is very lazy and finds all the means to avoid doing something, even if it takes a lot of effort. Although he is a ragged racker, he is also a ladies' man. 😁

A bit tangential, but if you were interested the USA has the "Ernest" series of movies, that are their equivalent of the Uuno movies
