A group of people coming from north of Greece migrated down and brought about the end of Mycenaean rule of Greece (we think), and the Spartans that most people know settled in Lakonia as part of the migration. The ones here are more of the Lakonian inhabitants at the time.

Thanks for this, I am hoping to try this game soon. However, I noticed something that was either changed or might be wrong regarding the stances. In earlier Total War games "Winded" is less severe than "Tired," so fighting in raiding stance is less punishing than fighting in marching stance. Off the top of my head, the fatigue states go fresh -> active -> winded -> tired -> very tired -> exhausted.

I was playing as Odysseus, and the epic missions really send you across the map to god knows where, I think I got lost there awhile. It was going good but then Hector ambushed me with 4 armies in the middle of the sea :/.
@merrylildeath31134 жыл бұрын
Odysseus is by far the hardest campaign in the game. I recommend if you’re new to try out menaleus or Achilles since they are both strong and can steamroll quickly
@edeneini8394 жыл бұрын
@@merrylildeath3113 Yeah I picked him first because he was my fav Hero but DAMN it can be a difficult first campaign. Expanding isn't too hard if you land at Epirus and continue up the coastline north, but his playstyle is pretty micro intensive. You have a weaker frontline and gotta use skirmish units frequently. One thing I found out about all Achean campaigns, once either Paris or Hector confederate Troy and eachother they gain the CRAZY stack usually guarding Troy. It's composed of max rank final tier units that will ruin your day if you're not ready.
@merrylildeath31134 жыл бұрын
eden eini yeah his playstyle is also the hardest too. You are completely different from all the other campaigns because you are a ambusher. Inorder for you to do good or great you have to ambush and be a good tactician, which is hard to get used to at first, but he’s also pretty strong since he starts out with a spy, and once you start upgrading the spy’s damage capability’s you can reduce a garrisons strength to half in a turn which is nutty as hell
@edeneini8394 жыл бұрын
@@merrylildeath3113 True, one thing that helped me immensely was when I got his skill that let's him ambush while moving (like the default Skaven campaign stance). Spies are just broken, they also have a broken skill that automatically wounds the enemy commander if you poison their army.

@@TobiFink I think it's mostly cause of the UI. It's constantly throwing pop ups/info expansions at you, the HUD displays lots of information, but it is not immediately/INTUITIVELY understandable what it all means. I mean it's all there and there are explanations for every single thing and what it does, but you have to read up on every single thing and and what it does and where in the HUD you find it. I'm sure it's fine once you get used to it all, but it's not simple start playing, learn the advanced gameplay stuff later, like the older titles were. The other thing complicating stuff is the addition of all the "RPG like" elements to the gameplay. It's all the "Unlock the X ability for a +2 buff in melee -3x for stamina for a 3sec duration, but only if the general is in his home province location and it's not winter" crap. I liked it more when my general just gave a kick ass speech before each battle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Jump to 48:00 that little button allows you to issue a decree. You can only issue a decree in a province where you own all of the regions :D

So, I have a question that doesn't look like it was answered here. For context, I am a Total War newbie as you suggested at the start, but a strategy game veteren. Civ, stellaris, etc. I'm doing really well in combat and resource management, there's just one huge problem. I gain allies, through gifts and trading and treaties. And then those allies decide to declare war on half the planet. Its insane how fast I go from having seven reliable allies fighting two factions to having five reliable allies and fighting fourteen factions. It doesn't matter how well prepared I am against armies of that size. Is there a mechanic that I can use to reduce the likelihood of WWI esque style domino wars? I can explain a bit more... it usually starts with Ionia. I eliminate the Corinthians early (I'm playing Agamemnon of course) and ally with Argos and the Arcadians to my west, so they don't tend to like me very much. The problem usually arises with Ionia (the city, not the region) aggressively expanding south. I need to deal with them to protect my allies, but in doing so I also end up fighting an unavoidable war with Athens at the same time. This is incredibly challenging but doable. But... it doesn't stop there. I very quickly, within five to ten turns, end up at war with the entirety of Ionia. Sparta, being the band of murder hobos that they are, usually don't help me with the war but instead head south and east to start wars with the Dorians and north to fight other Acheans. Very, VERY quickly I find myself at war with half the map before Troy and his band of roaming assholes even get involved. My allies seem to only be good at dragging me into wars they don't have any intention of actually helping me fight. I'm on the easy campaign with both subsettings set to easy as well... Am I doing something wrong or not doing something I should be? How do I avoid getting dragged into an actual world war just by trying to defend my allies northern border? I tried asking for assistance on the total war subreddit but... yeah... lets just say that's an interesting group of people and leave it at that.

Can you make an advice video on army composition? I always autocomplete my battles and im curious in such a case whether it matters and if i can make an specific hero support focused and another one front line or whether both should be equally balanced.

Not sure if this has been asked, but i didn't see this in the province management, how to set Commandment of a province? Guess this similar to the Royal Decree, but there's no tab to select, or at least i'm not familiar where to find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@italianspartacus4 жыл бұрын
It's the last thing I cover in the province Section :) so look at the menu the administration box that pops up, in the lower left, when you select a settlement you own. From there, look at the lower right corner of that box you'll see a little. Bronze symbol, hover over THAT and you'll see your commandments!

I'm encountering a thing in the campaign where I'll conquer a settlement and it wont have any building slots even if I upgrade it. It has the pottery imagery in the background of the settlement where the building slots would be. Does anyone know if this is a glitch or is there something I am missing?

However, when i start the game, in the main menu i can only select to play fall of the samuray. "Rise otS" and "Shogun2 campaign" are both grey... Do you or anyone else knows what to do? :(

OK, now that I have the game, and went through some of the tutorial, there's really a lack of info on just explaining a broader concept of the game. This tutorial is helpful with gameplay mechanics. Like I can click on the timestamp and go to the reference of that mechanic. But there's nothing explaining actually what the hell is going on. And what users are supposed to be trying to accomplish turn after turn. Agamemnon campaign is best because it has a tutorial button that can be activated. Going along with the tutorial, I'm able to learn and practice a few important gameplay concepts. But still overwhelmed, and have no sense of direction of what most of it is. Especially, what I actually want overall, and how to go about it from a broader perspective. As in not explaining each gameplay detail. But just a general understanding that keeps users wanting to do more. Rather than leaving them not knowing what to do.
@merrylildeath31134 жыл бұрын
Best way to learn is to just play a few campaigns by yourself. A few things you will need those are these: Early game try to expand and take out weak factions first. If you run into a faction with. A military alliance do not attack it unless you also have military allies since 9/10 you will lose the battle and likely lose the game. Tip #2: there are different stances next to your hero. You can use those stances to ambush, raid, march(speed) and 1-2 others. The stances are very good and I highly recommend that you use them. Tip #3: do not be afraid to go in the red for a little while. Most of the time it can be earned back by sacking, trade deals, and upgrading buildings. for any battle tips/ more in depth tip search up a diff guide. These are just for general good play and having more of a chance to win.

In the "broad" sense of what you want to accomplish by the "end" of the game, you should look at the objectives button on the upper part of the radar map down the right. Look at Homeric Victory as that is "easier" to achieve. That will tell you what you want to work towards to, it will tell you which settlements you need to own and which factions you need to eliminate or other things you need to do specific to each faction. Now, how you go about doing that or how long does it take; it's completely up to you. Also for the most part, you can follow the "missions" the game gives you and the advisor will guide you towards a specific region or way of playing. Of course do look at this guide and the ones on the factions to learn how they play and which one you may like more

is there any possible way to make battlemap UI similar to Rome 2 ?(Like big Colored flags above every unit) troy has small unit (flag or box) and no color distinction between friend and foe which makes very difficult to recognize friend from foe? is there any signs that seperate enemy troops when engaged in a fight?
@mannyfresh70654 жыл бұрын
Question on ambush. What do you mean by if they discover you? Does that mean let’s say an army is close to me and can see me. If I switch to ambush stance does that mean if they still move within my range I can ambush them? Or no because they already saw me on the map? Thank you for these guides!!! I was so happy when you said you were making one for Troy cuz yours is only reason I continued playing 3 kingdoms
@italianspartacus4 жыл бұрын
Yes! It's just like Three Kingdoms (since I know you've played that ;)) the enemy and the enemy agents all have a passive chance to detect an ambush before they make contact with it, revealing your character to them. This happens with every step they make right up to the actual ambush itself. I BELIEVE that the ambush success chance, unless modified by other items or skills, is the value the AI checks against when moving up to the ambush point. Also! Thank you very much for watching brother :)
@nabilyassine59834 жыл бұрын
I think if you try to go into ambush stance when there is an army or agent in line of sight of your amusing army, then it will fail. I believe this is true for the Warhammer games but not 100% certain for Troy. I'm assuming they didn't alter this behaviour. I could be wrong though.
