Mat Latos was a major jerk when he played for the Reds. One of his favorite things to do was to throw sunflower seeds at announcer Jim Day's face whenever Day was on the field doing a live broadcast. True Story - I was at an independent game and Matt Latos was on the opposing team sitting in the bullpen area which was down the 3B line. I asked him “Hey Matt, can you sign my baseball?” I must’ve been 10 or 11 years old. He responded with something like “why don’t you say please.” He was definitely right that I should’ve said “please,” but I feel like that was a pretty nasty thing to say to a 10 year old considering I still asked in a nice manner. I then asked again, after quickly apologizing, and he just ignored me. Pretty pathetic for a grown man to refuse signing a kids ball and act like that.
