From day one everyone was scratching their heads at this move. Why would a very good player and former MVP go to one of the most inept franchises in professional sports? One with notoriously bad player development? And no real history of winning? And easily top-5 worst ownership? Chicago offered him 200m a few years earlier and he turned it down. Boras probably told him that no other team was going to offer him more than the Rockies did, with his performance dropping. But hey, now he gets paid millions to almost never play due to injuries. And at least he's not pulling a Rendon and saying he doesn't even like playing bball.

You were too kind to Bryant in this video, you didnt even mention the fact that he was easily one of the top 5 worst players in baseball last year. If you pro-rate his -1.0 bWAR to a full season, I think he would have been the worst - hitting in the best hitters park in baseball. The decline is honestly shocking but some guys just fall off a cliff over age 30, maybe he gets back to being a decent + hitter, fangraphs Zips projects him for 103 wRC+ in 2024, but that contract looks like a huge disaster right now.

I know because I played on a crappie team once while having a high batting average and making great plays but still it was so hard on that team. The whole team and even myself were in fist fights off and on all season 🙄 Once I was on a good or great teams and winning it felt amazing! So Chris Bryant might have played better on a winning team maybe? Loosing in any sport can be a black whole and suck the whole team up if teams allow it to get in their heads. Any one who says it isn't about winning is full of BS! In youth sports especially yes it's not all about winning with little kids but man it sure feels much better when you are earning those wins in style! 🇺🇸🦅⚾️💪☝️💯
