Hi Espen. Bought avenger and the Italo disco pack on the back of this. GOD !!!!!!!!!! how good is this, The sounds are so real. Been trying for years to re-create anything near authentic sounding Italo/hi-NRG patches with no real success to my ears. Thank God for people like you Espen. Your drum kits are so exact. Although im using the instruments from the pack track by track, its great when you can solo parts from the sequence to see how the seq is made up. Loving this pack, i bow in you direction Mr. Kraft !!!!!! cant wait for the second pack now.

you definitely narrowed down the style of Italo Disco. you fully understand how to create that authentic style . i bought one of your packs but in case you ever make another great Italo Disco pack, please give us mainly sounds because this pack i bought was a mostly loops but i dont like using loops because i want to create my own stuff from scratch. i guess i can chop the loops to derive the sounds but it's a lot of work. i guess that's what i will do. thanks Espen. i'll be waiting for more great 80s and early 90s sound packs that you release. take care buddy

I have my "Ultimate Italo Disco / synth-pop" pack. It's mainly drums though. Besides that I've started on my sample packs for the TAL sampler. There you'll get all the raw sounds you need to make Italo Disco and other genres that relies on those types of sounds.

Hi Rusty. I have a few questions for you, if you don't mind. First, how demanding is it on the CPU? Second, is the VST capable of utilizing a multi-core CPU, or does the entire VST use just one core?

@@derekbaker3279 : That's a question for the developer, not a humble user like me. It's a slightly odd question because it depends totally on what cpu you're using, whether your DAW is setup for multi-threading and whether you actually care about the technical minutae when you're making music. Personally, I'm concentrating on the music and the mixing.. For the nerds who need 2 no. There's no display of the number of cores/threads in the UI that I can see. What I can see is that each oscillator uses about 1% of a 4790 quad core's processing power, so a triad with 5 oscillators per voice will use around 15-16% of said cpu. On a 12 core dual Xeon, it's about 3%. My PCs don't choke the cpu unless I'm rendering 4K video animations with a shit tonne of transparency and reflections. Compared to that, the cpu load of a vst synth is negligible

9:38 Trying to figure out the "Golden Brothers" reference. 10:25 Seems to be a bit of a Jan Hammer reference, but sounds a lot like Giorgio Moroder's The Chase. Avenger has to be one of the better VST's out there. Nexus 3 would be another "get " for me. Pretty cool that they got you to put some stuff in it.

Amazing job, even though I'm no fan of those "Single Note Orchestra" types of preset packs, where you hold down one key and it basically plays an entire song. It perpetuates the myth that making electronic music requires no effort or skill at all and "synths play themselves". Again, this is not directed at the work itself, which is excellent, it's just me being a grumpy old man :-P

This sounds spectacular! 👍👍 IMHO, too many Italo Disco recordings are processed to the point that the synths lose their texture, depth & organic nature, but the synths & percussion in your pack sound fantastic! Also, the horns I hear between 5:15 and 6:15 would be perfect for a few tunes by Pet Shop Boys! (The only disappointments are (a) it's not an inexpensive VST synth, and (b) it appears that (according to their website) Avenger is only set up for Macs with Intel chips, not the new M1 chip. This is not ideal.)

Just to prevent confusion: the Italo Disco Expansion has been done by Manuel Schleis & Marcel Susenburger. Espen delivered 10 Drumkits and 12 Multisamples (samples, not presets). The entire XP has 129 multisamples and 129 presets! However, thanks to Espen for some of his nice samples we used in our pack. When we design the presets, these must not be too processed, otherwise there is no room anymore and you get clipping issues. Really appreciated that you like our sound expansion for Avenger. Thank you! :)

These are not individual samples, like you can out into other samplers etc. For other questions you should check the Vengeance site. I don't sell this, it' not my product. I just worked on some of the sounds. Thanks! It will depend to some extent how you set this up inside your DAW, but it's quite easy to have all the individual parts exported out as stems inside the DAW so you can process them as you like. For a more detailed info you should ask them directly. Cheers

Hehe! Big a*s Studio tapes, maybe. Normal cassette tapes that we were used to? No! They fluttered/Wobbled, varied in clarity if worn out or had the audacity to turn the tape itself upside down leading to songs playing backwards at (long) parts. Remembering times when sitting on a bus to school with a "Freestyle" (a Walkman) with that reverse thing going on and pulling out the tape (and also slightly dragging the tape itself apart to be able to turn it "around", I don't remember how now) and trying to fix it. If fixed, it also often sounded even worse when it played back "non-reversed". You would get the Scotch "Discoband" (The "coughing song") with reversed coughs... :)

Thank you! :) For the Italo Disco we didn't build the vintage effects directly into the presets, as the user should decide for himself when to add them. With some presets I added a little noise to make it sound more authentic or I programmed the Macro buttons that you can dial in to a more lo-fi character. For the perfect retro effects you can use the Vinylizer FX in Avenger. I used this very often for the presets in my Retrowave 80s XP for Avenger.

@@Magnus_Loov Hi Magnus! Yes, it's possible to export the arps and single parts of sequences directly in your DAW. You have an export function for the drum sequences in Avenger, but for the arps you have to do it manually: Create a second midi track to record on. On this track you have to change the routing for midi in, that incoming midi data comes from Avenger and not from your midi keyboard. When your start recording on the second part, it will play the Avenger arp from the first track and record all the single notes to the second track. You can make it in every DAW. Both. We used many multisamples by original hardware to to get the sound as original as possible. Furthermore we added synthesis to it which is layered with the samples. Sometimes it's synthesis only. Avenger is a synthesizer and you can design presets with synthesis (also granular), samples, wavetables and drums.
