The team I'm most impressed by this year is Italy. There wasn't an American name on the team which means no army base kids so, Italians have picked up the game nicely. And that tip of the cap for a good play was pure class. They should be going home with heads held high.

Amazing how fast Mr Zafferani’s stubble comes back overnight. Love to see the game developing with native Italians. Those kids are a credit to their families, Italy and Little League. Damn, who’s chopping onions in here? Pitching depth can be developed quickly at this age with a progressive throwing program.

Wow Italy put up a fight. They really didn’t have power hitting, but they were swinging hard today. Curaco has some incredible defense, especially the diving catch with runners on and 2 outs. Good game

Wow, what a game. Great baseball on both sides. Great effort from Italy and I was rooting for them, but the historically strong Curacao was just a little too much. Hats off to both teams. This one's for the ages.

I believe last year Pablo Suarez played for Team Italy in the WBSC u-12. Not sure about the other players on the team but his face is familiar to remember. This could be the reason why these kids were prepared to have some good games this year. Didn’t get mercy ruled and lost there games by 2 runs or less to some competitive international teams. With no leadoffs there are basically no stolen bases when the kids can throw 60mph+, so who cares what hand he throws with? I had average poptime and average arm and I still played catcher more often than not in Juniors just because I was the only one on the team competent enough to reliable scoop and block bad pitches (which have been ridiculously frequent during this tournament). I preferred 1st base, though, much easier on the knees.

I had one in a high school-level summerball tournament a couple months ago. it was weird seeing one at that level, but he was pretty good.

yo i understand this is little league, but these 1st base umps ARE GOD AWFUL, I might be mistaken but there still professionals due to the event. but some of these first base calls.. ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE and the reviews are short as hell, cause how hard is it to tell that kids foot hit the bag a second before the ball got there.. JUST BAD
