07:42 I have to agree with everything you said. It’s very hard to explain to friends and family who has never been or who has made up their mind based on “propaganda”. I’ve given up trying to convince people - I’m just at a stage where I’m like “your loss” I’m from Cape Town South Africa and have had the pleasure of visiting Brazil and Rio many times in the last 7 years and try and get back there as often as I’m able to. By the way, I thoroughly enjoyed Ilha de Itaparica and Ilha dos Frades on my first trip back in 2016.

I'm Brazilian and I was thinking of going to Salvador to continue my musical studies. Watching your videos, with your non-stereotypical view of the city, definitely helped me decide to move to this capital. Salvador is a huge cultural hub in the country, especially in relation to music production. Somehow, good part of the music heard in Brazil passes through there. Great job

Agree! It’s a very special place, a bit south. Trancoso is special! It’s very inclusive and chill. But nearby to SSA, Morre de São Paulo and especially Boipeba are very nice.

To Eat, forget about Soho is over expensive japonese food. You have to try acaraje, abara and tapioca our typical street food. Also try moqueca my favorite is shrimp moqueca at ki Mukeka the food is real good and is not super expensive, you should also try Picui that serves our northeastern country food, and try the espeto de surubin na brasa, and the queijo coalho com melaço you won't be sorry, they have an menu in english if I am not mistaken.

Yes, the locals know where to go for the best eats, drinks, etc. I let YT guide me going to Santiago de Cuba, Cuba but got to talk with locals, hired someone to be my guide and had explored that city with the best experience I've had ever. Yes, it is all about the people!. Thanks!

Visit paradises near Itaparica. There is Frades island ( I guess you can just stay during the day). There is also Morro de São Paulo in another island.

Go to Ilha dos Frades, it’s the best around. The once you finish Salvador take a Catamarã towards Morro de São Paulo and Boipeba, then not far from there Barra Grande

I don't know if you guys have already been to Morro de Sao Paulo, but if not you should check that out. The island is beautiful and they serve caipirinhas inside of cocoa fruits there. Very exotic. I actually have never tried, but when I go there I'll sure try. I've been to South of Bahia though. There are nice beach villages in the south of Bahia state too. And up north near Sergipe there's Mangue Seco, a beautiful place with white dunes.

You should check out the colonial era town of Cachoeira, about 90 minutes from Salvador. It's charming and historic. It can be a day trip from Salvador by bus, or better yet, spend the night.

Did you know Itaparica island sand is radioactive that's why people like it so much. I hope you enjoy Salvador. You can travel a bit south to Porto Seguro, that's where the portuguese arrived 500 years ago. I never been but people say is very beautiful. Closer to Salvador you can visit Paria do Forte where they have a sea turtle preservation program you can vist, is really cool and the beach is pretty too. Any tips just ask me I live here

I would love to listen about your experience being black in Brazil vs being black in America. We often hear jokes about skin color on American tv shows, and it is weird for us to speak in those terms out loud. Brazilians don't have a defined ethnicity, so for uns mentioning race sounds odd, unless it is related to the subject. Of course there is a lot of prejudice and discrimination, but I heard that several black Americans "expats" are choosing to live in Brazil and I hope it becomes a trend, we need educated and easygoing people like you to break the violence and poverty stereotypes.
