At least the husband recognized that he had no say over what his wife did with her inheritance and that she didn't need his permission to donate it. That's refreshing. It was also nice that the wife knew she didn't need his permission but talked to him about it anyway. That's how adults should communicate.

She also knows that SIL won’t pay her back. So why does she give her money? And the pestering about money would stop if SIL sees that it doesn’t help anyway.
