Some people have the misconception that having children will strengthen the relationship but that only works if the relationship has a strong base to begin with. Overall it usually tests the relationship as it adds a new unfamiliar challenge. Not to mention it adds stress to the child if the parents don't want them genuinely.

I don’t blame Richard for not being attracted to his wife, she is an annoying nag right from the get go. She isn’t very smart either.
