Stage 6. When it comes to actually sparring, or fighting anyone, ignore the thing we have been trying to drill you on for years, as it has no practical application. Make sure you keep your guard up too. Dropping your “ reaction hand “to your waist is a no no. The only people who like “Sine Wave” are the ITF. Such a shame as they have some great instructors.

ITF patterns are beautiful, especially when someone talented does them. You learn many things in ITF.... being humble is one another is courtesy. Maybe you should join a class. You have lots to learn.

@@bryanking1428 Not making assumptions about people you don`t know ,is also good knowledge,Sir Bryan. I have practiced TKD for forty years and hold a 6th degree blackbelt. I got my 4th Dan with the ITF ,but left because I dislike the Sine Wave as useless. I think General Choi had too much instant coffee when he came up with it . I think the ITF have some brilliant people however, but no one has been able to offer a decent explanation of SW. Bogus physics doesn`t work on me either as I have some knowledge of the subject . Be happy !

@@ilikezappa3268 IMO sinewave makes immense sense, the body does not move forward like it is on a travelator. Sinewave is just a guide on how to relax the body, wind up and then tense as you strike. It manages the transition period to avoid patterns becoming something else, something ugly... if you search Chung do Kwan or several other off-shoots of Taekwon-do you will find hilarious examples of what a pattern can become, with arms flailing, no timing and a general lack of precision. Sinewave has become exaggerated by some practitioners but I believe that is better than the alternative. At any rate, sorry if I sound combative and thank you for responding. With respect, Bryan.

@@bryanking1428 No problem Sir Bryan. People are naturally quite defensive of their style ,and the people who teach it to them . I know many ITF instructors who are super good at what they do ,and technically brilliant . I don`t like the Sine Wave tho ! You put a boxer against an ITF guy who tries to punch like that and you will have been hit ten times before you finished your first punch . This revolutionary "Scientific " way of producing power seems to have escaped Mike Tyson. On a purely subjective level , I don`t like the way it looks either.
As a boxer and kickboxer I think stage 2 is the most realistic motion. Simply sit down on your strikes.....stage 3 is too much movement.....
@paddymacIV2 жыл бұрын
Stage 4 here is grossly exaggerated and unfortunately, this is how it is being taught by many to so many, all over the world. It's supposed to be a 'relaxed motion' to start, which allows the body's centre of Gravity as a whole to just drop or dip slightly, just enough to enable a gentle spring or suspension motion to take place , not so much of a 'down' which is more difficult for Students to actually quantify like, how far down?? and all these over exaggerated knee drops appear all over the place , some almost hitting the Floor. It's meant to be more of 'relax' really, rather than a 'down', which leads to all these crude exaggerations appearing everywhere.

You should say so to the founder.

@@MasterLee Sir I trained with the Founder rest him on a few occasions and some of the top GM's on many. The msg as I seemed to understand it on these courses was that the knee bending in Sine wave should be minimal and slight, so it is barely noticeable, not like an exaggerated extra movement which for some reason we see displayed by many all over

It's stupid. Anyone wanting to learn taekwondo for the sport/sparring should learn Kukkiwon/Olympic Taekwondo whilst those who wanted to learn the traditional aspect of Taekwondo should join Tang Soo do instead ITF basically took the worst of Tang Soo Do and ran with it
