this is the very reason i can't stand school and most of my teachers dislike me. they want me to follow their way of doing shit so badly for no reason and it's so frustrating like i have my own way that makes sense to me and gets the same result as their way so why not let me do it my way??

I’m an ISTP, but I also have employees. It’s yuck managing people and I have to like put on a facade but whatever. Anyway, I made the mistake of telling an employee once that “this is the standard, this is how I do it but idc how you do it as long as the end result is this”. And now, im tryna figure out a way to be like “I know I said idc how you do it but bro, I didn’t know you were gonna go with “slowly”, so you have GOT to stop wasting the time I am paying you for”

@@idrk1507 interesting. I wonder what an ISTP nerd looks like? As an INTP even though they have the same Ti primary logic as ISTPs, the ISTP tends to come off as the more cool, more grounded, less nerdy one. They are very applicative with straight forward solutions (which is part of their cool factor). The INTP tends to come off as the more stereotypical nerd with our heads in a book, researching all sorts of random topics, or with our head in the clouds thinking about the complexity of the universe and trying to discover universal truth. It will sometimes take decades or even a lifetime for Intps ideas, inventions, works or concepts to come to life.

@@mrod8578 I will compare myself with my INTP best friend, so you could get a more in deph idea 1) I have 0 common sense. My INTP friend has much more common sense. 2) I'm a comformist and traditionalist. I deeply belive in sending your children to school, so they get good grades and then a good job My INTP friend doesn't care about education, or at least, not from schools. She aims to homeschool her future children. 3) I'm much more disgorganised than my INTP friend. My room is a mess filled with textbooks and paper. I'm always lazy, often procrastinate, often cram, never do my homework My INTP friend has a tidy room, and never studies- unlike me. Though, she spends all day procrastinating, she's lazy, crams, and doesn't work consistently- just like me. 4) I love perfection. Because I like feeling better than everyone else. I will spend hours and hours studying on subjects I *dislike*, just to appear superior to my classmates. My INTP best friend doesn't care about perfection or feeling superior. She learns about ANATOMY in her free time because it's ''interesting''. But doesn't study for our biology exams... 🤦‍♀ For me, grades > information that isn't on our curriculum
@mrod8578
@mrod8578 2 жыл бұрын
@@idrk1507 That last sentence is definitely true. INTPs prefer studying just for the pleasure and can often neglect studying for academia and grades which of course can cause major imbalances and issues when conforming to society. Albert Einstein struggled with high school and later university for that reason even though he's considered a genius today. He was not a model student in spite of fitting the nerd stereotype. As for common sense I suppose when it come to being more cautious and making predictions she probably is. I think common sense for INTPs and ISTPs are different. When it comes to certain things an ISTP has more common sense I believe but it also depend on the situation and scenario. INTPs can use their past experiences to predict future consequences with relative accuracy. This is where their common sense lies when they can see something happen before it happens with their past experiences and then project it on the future. With an ISTP it's their senses and grounding in the present where they can applicate common sense solutions (something INTPs can often struggle with). PS: You probably never do your homework, procrastinate, and act lazy because sitting down for homework is boring and ISTPs like to do. 😂

He also said ISTP's live in the present, I sometimes get anxiety about the past but then later I don't give a damn about it anymore. I tend to help people even if I don't want to though... um You sound like an Istp to me. I m too, and being always in the present, cold and confident is not always the case. What matters most is how you primarily think on situations/life. If you prefer factual information and gather it to form your own opinions that is a Ti trait and Istps love that combined with Se. So yea being not confident and being soft to others is like '-' normal. Personally i have seen myself being a little cold in normal situations but when a person actually needs support i have also noticed that i am providing their emotional needs better than a lot of others.

During another meeting (budget), as our Director kept rejecting expenditure amounts, I said "*#!@, you're cheap!". The entire room erupted in laughter, cheering, and applause. @benjaminharmon6541

I relate to that a lot. Expressing emotion outwardly has to have a clear purpose, otherwise it's just bringing everyone else down without accomplishing anything. It's also really hard to process feelings internally, so a lot of the time less mature ISTPs end up just suppressing everything, making us feel less intensely, which furthers the cycle. Not very much you can do about it at this point, but eventually your son will be more receptive to the message of self care and self compassion, even if it takes many years. I'll take being a badass over being hypersensitive, though.

As an ISTP, 15 years old, I think I might have a stronger than average developed Extroverted Feeling trait compared to others of my type. I always hold back on the things I tell others because I fear they'll get their feelings hurt and say something that gets me upset, too. Better off both parties remaining neutral rather than both getting upset, you know? I feel like people don't really think I'm rude because I decide what to say based on how they'll react. Although, a lot of times, I really do wish I could "call a spade a spade" without getting backlash. If I give you a dirty look, there's probably something I really want to say very bluntly to you, however I am refraining. Also, I just want to point this out since this is a huge stereotype for ISTPs, but I hate engineering/fixing things. I much prefer creating art, music; story writing; and programming (all in mainly a digital form).

INFJ and ISTP's share the same functions in the exact opposite order. I'm an INFJ, seriously Se impaired, so I allways admire the way they simplfy things and find instant creative solutions to problems, how they jump into action, how they know exactly and unapollogetically how to relate/react to "real world", ppl and practical stuff I struggle with. I learn so much from them and they can be great friends. Saying that, I have had a relationship with an ISTP, and would not repeat. At least till they are in a more mature phase of life, where they worked on developing their inferior functions. It started great, since both types are no BS and picky when choosing partners, having long term in mind, so we both appreciated that determination, loyalty and honesty in each other...but...as much as I appreciated his superior Se and saw it as a skill to learn, he was just perplexed by my lack off. He saw me as utterly incompetent, even though it turned out on multiple occasion he could pick up on some planning skills of mine, instead of allways going on an impulse, thinking latter and not being able to admitt I was right in the aftermath, and maybe he should take my opinion into consideration the next time. I was just as perplexed by his innabillty to connect to his own or anyones emotions. It was like watching a two year old trying to solve a complex equation. I literally had to explain to him, word for word how and why he felt the way he did on some occasions and he would just look at me and nod to confirm that is exactly how he felt. That lack of emotional intelligence made him too harsh for me, not being the support I needed, when I was down. He would see me as weakling and that would repell him. I saw him as dry, selfish and cold - where he left me out in. I could listen and learn about cars and how different mechanics of stuff worked and found it really interesting, adding to my knowlege database... He would look down on my interests of meta/phyisics, scientific news and how different branches of science connect over some new findings, psychology and such, looking at it as some kind of fantasy world I was living in, that has no ancoring in real life, even though there is an empirical proof. That insulted my intelligence. All in all, too different to work out as romantic partners. I never got my needs met, to have a supportive partner who values and respects me as an individual. He never got his needs met to have a Se smart, yet submissive partner, who could read but not be hurt by his inferior Fe. Wish we both saw it at the beginning and agreed to be casual lovers for a while, cause both types can handle that type of relationship, if there's mutual honesty. 🤷‍♀️

Right?? I feel like it's an opposites attract scenario. ISTPs are grounded in reality and thinking, whereas INFPs tend to have trouble getting out of our heads and feels. Also, for me personally, I prefer blunt people. Yeah, it can hurt when the wrong thing is said, but ultimately I'll figure out my hurt feelings or talk it out if they're a reasonable person. It's much better than trying to figure out people who beat around the bush and then leave me sorting through all the various "real" intentions they could have.

I find it interesting that ISTP and ESTP can be a bit defensive about their Ti logic like INTJ and ISFP might be about the practicality of their Ni plans.

ENFJ here, trying to understand my opposite type better and I just can't get my head around how rudeness is supposedly a personality trait of ISTPs? Maybe it's bc I'm an ENFJ but I watched this and I was like, does Kevin just not like ISTPs? Surely, being rude isn't a personality trait right? BUT I kept watching the video and I started to understand a bit more. SORRY IF THIS SOUNDS MEAN, I actually would really like to be friends with an ISTP bc I feel like they could help me use logic more, stay in the present and not overthink so much. I think we could really balance each other out if we don't kill each other first 😂

I've noticed that ISTP SE can be highly limiting; especially when it comes to applying creativity to the big picture or 'potential possibilities.'

All the ISTPs finally having a propper presentation of them: 1058 people liked that. No but srsly, this videos are gold XD I know an ISTP who is EXACTLY like that. But I really love their Social akwardness when they are just dead silent and you are standing besides them and start to chuckle because the situation is super uncomftarble but they really dont care about that and are just like: kay, gonna pretend your not here I also would have put Daryl Dixon as an ISTP example because he is super popular and a huge stereotype of it

im an istp, though there's people who tell me im somewhat like an entp for some reason. i question which one i am but tbh it doesnt matter. i definitely get the wanting to do things by my own logic thing. i dread it when people help me even when i say i dont want any or i guess i dread it when they tell me what i need to do specifically. i just want to figure things out for myself, is that too hard to ask for? i find a sense of accomplishment whenever i get to analyze things successfully and solve the problem. i am questionably playful and extroverted when it comes to the people im close to but cold and introverted when im with strangers. im also a huge dick sometimes and can be too honest to criticize anyone (even my friends though i do realize i go too far and feel shit abt it sometimes) i dont really think im anywhere near as cool as what people see an entp or istp as tbh lmao but oddly i get many praise and compliments saying im talented or cool even when i dont even try to be? anyway that's the end of that meaningless rant, i applaud you for reading even if you just skipped to this part because id probably do the same.

Relatable. I used to think I was ENTP or INTP because of all the stereotypes. Got over all that and stopped overthinking the tests etc. And met real life examples. Now I get ISTP and it fits like a glove. Intuitive bias sucks. I really thought about it and most intuitive Ne conversations and trains of thought are the most incoherent, boring, and unenlightening things...there's no practical application, I don't care...they never get to the point...so I realize I'm a sensor. Just one who enjoys philosophy, science, and useful N-type things.

I'm either ISFP or ISTP and I just despise saying excuse me if I need to get through at work, I just creep up behind and wait there for you to move or if it's a big crowd or you don't move I'll take the long way around you. For god's sake don't slow walk either or linger around doors, I have places to go people to see. Anyone else relate?😂 Oh and you can give me suggestions and instructions, I'll follow them detailed to a tee, but don't start micromanaging me... Ahem xSTJ.

I have infp friends and i am a istp when doing something new, them searching everything online and making sure to search what need to knows while me getting impatience because there's so much to search so im just gonna figure out myself and get the works done so i can chill and free from any current problem. Also paying attention around me stress me out for idk the reason, my parents always says i don't care on everything (well sometimes i do tho) I just go with the flow and i don't like when someone pressure me to do something.

Yea, INFP's complete ISTP's because INFP's generally draw an ISTP out of the hard shell they usually place themselves in and an ISTP will ground the INFP from their bizarre thoughts and bring them back to reality. They're interesting and difficult to figure out, but their flightiness generally draws out the creative side of an ISTP and makes it enjoyable. They're very much Yin and Yang but they fit together well.

Into reminds me of me.. Manager asking me to clean the cold room and telling me to move stuff, had listed everything needing done so I started. He kept just watching me and all I could say is "you can either watch me or give me a hand. otherwise could you not watch me. " I realised as I said it how blunt it was, but he left anyway so problem solved 😅

I love the vague list of things to do. It's my favorite. fix this, clean that etc etc. As long as they leave me the f alone, it'll get done with shocking speed, accuracy and vigor. I have a saying at work. I don't give an F who does it, as long as it gets done.
