I've tried the 9 ft and compare it to the 9'5" Wide Point in terms of surfing. Catches waves easily, very stable paddling. Not as fast but if mix the standard fins with the ITWIT kayak fins you may get more drive.

I managed to get one of the 9' off ebay France to keep in the car as I travel around a lot for work, and it's a pretty good board! it's pretty heavy for it's size and you need to paddle onto the wave back in surf stance then ride it off the tail else it nose dives really easy, but if you can find one used (or if the new version ever comes back in stock) they're loads of fun, super stiff and turn well off the tail. I've had a lot of fun on this board so far this winter on days when I wouldn't have had a board with me and would just have been wondering what might have been...! Another great review that pushed me to drunken 'bid' but worked out ok. Nice one Reuben and the team...

Hey Walter, I just went and checked this for you and yes it works with a Red Paddle Co pump. I known sometimes you have to change the rubber washers for a different thickness if not. Yes you can use a bike pump to inflate up to the higher pressures but these boards are very stiff at 17psi and I would go higher unless the brand recommends it. And it would take forever!! @@SUPboardermag Good to know. On extended travel I want to try to reduce the number of pumps I carry, and even without an iSUP I have 4 pumps. @@SUPboardermag Ive just received my 10' surf (2020 version). Not taken it onto the water as am 'umming and 'arring about it. Once is use I'm committed to it. The Board is light. Very light. Its blown thickness is 3.5" so very thin. I performed the same deflection test as you guys - 1.5m distance (centred around paddling position) and 75 kg weight. It came out consistently at 23cm at 17psi. Thats a lot more than the 14cm of the previous version but this is an inch thinner. I also noticed they run the hard 'surf rail' a fair way around the tail of the board. Its around 45cm beyond the outer fin. Will the feeling of being so low and connected to the water outweighs the additional flex? My guess is ITIWIT have deliberately gone longer and lower and used lighter materials to get more out of the board on a wave. However how it will handle our often slightly less than glassy Atlantic wswell is anyones guess. Anyone else actually used one ? Thanks. Jules

@@julesharman6427 Hi Jules, how was your experience with the new iSUP longboard? Would you recommend it for a beginner? Thanks a lot! :)
@julesharman64274 жыл бұрын
mad4drum hi, for a beginner on flat water up to around 75kg it would be ok. You’ll find coming down form a more regular 10’ board that’s thicker quite a difference. The glide is good and sits pretty low in the water. Out in surf is another matter. You need good paddle control and pushing out through waves with the lower volume will need bracing work unless tiny. The board seems better suited to glassy, less steep waves as the nose has a tendency to pearle or dive on steeper take offs. However the board is well built. Is remarkably stiff for its thickness and if you wasn’t to use it in small cleaner waves or flatter then it would be fine. Once on a wave the board is pretty agile if you work off the back foot. For less than ideal surf, a shorter board and or more rocker would be better. I’d guess the original 9’ 4” thick was nearer the sweet spot.
@abez61515 жыл бұрын
Reuben, I fancy the 9' for taking on the plane, short surf trips abroad. I'm 100kg, so over the recommended weight limit. What I don't understand is the board has loads of volume at 170L. Are you and Decathlon just being conservative with the 90kg recommendation? Cheers
@SUPboardermag5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I guess I am a little bit. I think if you are a more experienced paddler you could get away with being heavier. These boards have a nice thickness to them which means they preform well but cant take a much weight as the thicker boards. If you are used to riding hard boards around 150L and are a surfer already then yes go for it. Still the best board in the surf to date! Hope that makes sense ? Reuben

Hi Reuben, Fantastic review. I thought i'd finally found the iSUP i was looking for (9 4")! But as you say, no longer sell it. whaaaaaattttt!/whyyyyyyyy;( Decathlon only selling the 3" 140l 10 now. That's 30l less volume. wow! I am 75kg. I was wanting a capable surf iSUP but able to cruise down a river now and again. I am questioning whether the new Itiwit iteration at 10 3" isnt now a soley surf iSUP with little all-around capability. BUT..i havn't tried it hard to know, but 140l is a small volume for a bit of river cruising. I understand why they have reduced the volume but I wonder ifwhynot have a 4" version still! Hi Guys, quick question. I weigh 65 kilo and I'm planning on mainly doing flatwater supping (simply because I've got so many normal surfboards that I would probably pick them when there are waves) would you recommend the itiwit 500 9'0 surf or the itiwit 12'6 touring board. Any advice would be really welcome. Frasing it differently would the 500 surf be good for flat water because I weigh 65 kg? And would the 12'6 *32touring be to big?

Hi! If you are just wanting a flat water board, the 12'6 touring board will be much better than the 500 surf. It will be much more fun to paddle around on. More stable, better glide and more ability to take things on it. At 65kg you will find the 32 inch wide great. If you are a beginner, its length will mean you may find it a little tricky to turn, but the width is perfect. You will need to learn to stepback turn quickly, so check out some of our other videos. Yesterday I went out and rented a red sport 11'3 and found that the step back turn came quite easily. (your videos definitely helped with that! )

@@SunriseSessions - a 6 inch thick board is very common with a touring I SUP and It won't be a problem for you at 65 kg. You are higher of the water with a 6inch thick board and it gives a less 'connected' to the water feeling, but allows the board to be very stiff. The 11'3 sport is a 4.75' thick board, so will feel slightly different. But everything comes at a compromise.... Based on your experience, you may find the 29inch wide board will be OK for you based on your experience. Will be faster to paddle , but a little less stable. @@MediaBrighton we have a few spots around Cornwall we use but we are based on the south coast mainly. Let us know what you think of the board if you go for it. Reuben

Hi Reuben, Have you heard of Pendleboards? They make hard tail iSup's. I think Duo-boards bought the patent off the guy and make some too. It would be great to see a review. I spoke to the inventor (Matt) and he said to go for the yellow boards as the red ones were prototypes and are quite old now. pendleboard.com/en/home/#shopsup

Will the 8ft support my weight? I am 80kg. 6ft tall.

It will support your weight for sure. How much surfing have you done before and on what boards?

@@SUPboardermag I currently have a 10'6 ISUP but rented out a solid 9ft and was fine in the surf.

@@bpunlimited I think you will be fine then. The solid 9' you rented will probably have less overall volume than the 8' Itiwit at a guess anyway. Thanks Reuben

@@SUPboardermag found out the 9' board I rented was 155l. Hoping I'll be grand on the 8'.
