Gotta love Crendors fortune cookie style fortune telling by not telling anything. "His pride may make him good, it may make him bad."

Hanna-Justina Wallia Rosalind Sieglinde Marseille That's what's awesome about it. I think magic is very limited in this setting, so the characters believe it, but the players know that most of it is bogus. It's a great concept that opens up a way to some amazing roleplaying. Roleplaying a superstisious or mystical character, when you know it's not true is super cool. I was actually very impressed with Crendor here, I wouldn't expect such a serious thought-out performance from him. He usually just rolls with whatever, but this time he really prepared and made up an interesting story that fits with the setting.

Steve is such a good DM, his questions regarding each characters backstory are amazing, it leads them each to a deeper and richer backstory. I wish I could be that good.

Jesse is so aggressive in his character's backstory that Shannon had to change her character's age to keep it kosher. It's good the girls are so laid back about all this.
@Pyronar
@Pyronar 9 жыл бұрын
RetryAgainAgain I think he's just very enthusiastic about it. You can see that he's really not that aggressive, because every time Steven corrects him or changes something to be more consistent, Jesse immediately agrees. I'm not saying he could refuse Steven, but he's not even trying to add any details of his own. He's just like "that's cool with me". I think if Shannon didn't change Rovik's age, but just said that the ages don't match up, Jesse would simply change that part of his backstory. I actaully like his enthusiasm. Sometimes it leads him too far out of the setting, but it really brought life to a big part of the Numenera season and I'm confident that he will have the same effect here.

RetryAgainAgain Eamon fears Ingibjorg, remember when that superstitious deliciousness was thing that would have been awesome. Then "I don't think so but I could be down with it." Instead Ingiborg has a soft spot for Eamon. It's good the "girls" are so laid back about this.

Otherish I don't think we can blame anyone here. We know that Maggie usually has a fairly strong vision of her characters. It's good to be open to stuff, but I would rather she'd be comfortable with her character. Roleplaying something that didn't fit in your original vision is a nice thing to do, but only if you know you can pull it off somehow. I wouldn't want Maggie to try and force that relation, when she doesn't know how to work it into the story.

George K. It has the feel of a power gamey move to shoot down a potential weakness that just doesn't sit well with me personally. But that is my problem and R&D players should do as they please. IMO Characters are not avatars of players but tools to tell an entertaining and interesting story. Flaws make interesting characters, and it will be interesting to see if Eamon has any.

The game is the game and all, but I believe average age hasn't changed that much with time - it's just that a high number of child/young adult deaths skew the numbers, once someone survived through their teens they probably lived quite long lives so 28 back then shouldn't necessarily be seen as "old".

Weren't raids from vikings not as bad as history used to tell? As in, most people just paid a 'protection fee' kinda deal/left offerings, and nearly never were all the people of a place actually slaughtered 'cause raid.

There are plenty of other "geeks" out there that would sell their mother to be on your show and you invite those 2. I find them extremely anoying, specialy jesse that thinks he's funny but he isn't. Even Will Wheaton is more funny that this guys, and he his obnoxious with his adult jokes

IMO too much hassle making chars... especially for a system that kills PCs easily...
@Pyronar
@Pyronar 9 жыл бұрын
Marcin Kocimski That happens in every season of R&D. It will become quicker next time, because they are already familliar with the system and have established NPCs. Besides, it's no Pendragon. If I remember correctly, the entire first episode of that season was prep and character creation. That was ridiculous.
@AB-ln2py
@AB-ln2py 9 жыл бұрын
Well, we shall see. Tho in pendragon someone died almost instantly, and his next char wasnt as elaborate :P
@Ketolos
@Ketolos 9 жыл бұрын
Marcin Kocimski It's also to build the world around the characters. After an hour of crafting characters, you have many NPCs, you have motivations, you have lot of small stories. And GM can take those and use them a lot. This type of making characters is usually better then just putting some numbers on the sheet. Cause your characters feel more alive.
@AB-ln2py
@AB-ln2py 9 жыл бұрын
True, but getting char like that killed by a random rng roll in 1st session is well... annoing ? Besides Coxx will use his womanly charm and kill them all, he is so predicatble ;P
